About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods In Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

My sibling and their families stayed at this wonderful cabin, perfect for getting together and cooking l, playing games, and hanging out. Was the perfect size for us all.
Wonderful space to connect with friends and family
We enjoyed our stay at Redwoods in Yosemite and hope to return in the future. The Treehouse II property was spacious and we all enjoyed the pool table, the huge deck, and the well-equipped kitchen. We had a fantastic week in Yosemite and enjoyed using this as our home base for exploring the park - it was great to be able to walk to the Chilnualna Falls trail from our house and we made multiple visits to the Mariposa grove.
We were a party of 5 using the house as a home base for some hiking in Yosemite. Fit our needs perfectly and all enjoyed. Great, huge deck outside which was perfect for relaxing after a long day. Thanks for a good stay.

Tree House Luxury
This lovely cottage home provided our 12 member family with adequate cookware, utensils, dishes, cups, tables, chairs and a wonderful refrigerator. Also, the barbecue worked well. Beds fine except sofa beds could use more mattress support.
Cabin was wonderful. There wasn’t enough kitchen towels but we requested more and got them. I wish they had a better knowledge of what the kitchen had. I called and asked about crockpots, mixers etc. they said they didn’t have them. We brought our own and when we got there they had them.
The house was perfect for our group of 14. The place was clean and had most of the necessities. The beds were comfortable. When we ran out of towels, we just went to the office and asked for more towels. They were delivered to the house. The kids were really happy with the pool table. The deck was perfect for the star gazing at night. The only thing was the pull out couch was a little uncomfortable. We will definitely come back here again.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
A bit 70s funky.
Very spacious and everything we needed. Too many doodads and funky furniture. Good beds but pillows and sheets need an update. Felt dirty, but I think just old.
The 5 bedroom Treehouse II house worked out perfectly for our family. Everyone appreciated the 4 bathrooms and the big family room upstairs. As it turned out we didn't use the lower family room, but if we had had older kids or teenagers, they would have loved it. The kitchen was well stocked and a hairdryer was in every bathroom.. The dryer came in handy for drying wet clothes.

Wonderful family space
Spent a GREAT week with family, 7 adults and 2 young ones. Loved the "Treehouse". Love the upstairs, downstairs feeling that allowed alone time and family time. Late September stay made Glacier Point and The Valley very accessible. Fires closed lots of Wanona experiences, disappointing. Kitchen was great and well furnished. Stove could use some attention. Amazing patio and good BBQ. Good beds, lots of blankets and good service by Redwoods folks. We would recommend highly. Good facility for 10-12

Awesome cabin
This cabin was super awesome! The kitchen was fully equipped which was a plus and there was so much room for all of the guests to fit comfortably and move around freely. The deck and game room was a plus because guests enjoyed being outside and playing pool. There is WiFi in the cabin which was used by all of the guests and made it enjoyable for those that didn't want to go outside exploring. I would recommend this cabin especially for a family gathering.

Lovely Home for a Large Group
The Tree House II was an excellent choice for our group of five couples and one single adult. The house was very nicely and comfortably furnished, with plenty of room for all of us to be together, but still have a little bit of space when we wanted it. It would have been nice to have one more queen bed, as two of the couples ended up in the two twin rooms, but that was not really a problem. The kitchen was very well-equipped, and we took full advantage of it and made all of our own meals. We appreciated the labels on the cupboards and drawers telling us where things were, and also the labels on the light switches. We loved the large deck and enjoyed spending time out there in the afternoon/evening. The swing chair (glider) was also very popular. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the wireless internet service was. It was wonderful to have activities we could do right from the house without driving anywhere: we walked to/from the Chilnualna Falls trailhead, also to the store and to the bridge over Chilnualna Creek. It was a short drive to Wawona, where we enjoyed the Meadow Loop Trail, the Swinging Bridge Trail, and the Pioneer Village. Some of our group went to Yosemite Valley one day, which was only about an hour away. The instructions provided which included details on trash, cleanup, recycling, internet, etc. were very helpful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time in the house and were sorry to leave.

Great place for a large group!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tree House II! We had eleven in our group ranging from age 2 on up. Lots of flexible sleeping arrangements and an extremely well appointed kitchen made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The pool table was a big hit as well! I would highly recommend this home to others and would stay there again as well.

Birthday Celebration
The Tree House II was an average home. It is definitely bigger that it looks on the outside. The back deck is beautiful. Unfortunately, there is construction going on right next door which means early arousal due to workmen sawing, hammering, etc. Make sure you bring EVERYTHING you need for the kitchen including paper towels and extra drying clothes for the kitchen. The cabinets need to be cleaned well and there is only two shelves for your groceries. A good rafter cleaner is needed as well.
Keep in mind that there is a long drive to the valley floor and most hikes. The Mariposa Grove of Redwoods is being renovated and will not reopen until 2017 and that is the only good hiking area in the south end of Yosemite.

Family celebration of our 50th Anniversary
This home was perfect for our family of 14 to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. The Great Room ... living room ... dining room and kitchen was very comfortable for all of us to be together for the weekend. The kitchen was equipped with every tool and appliance we needed. The beds were comfortable. The home had a family feel with photos of the owners around. Our kids love the pool table downstairs!

Redwoods in Yosemite Cabin 48R The Tree House II
For the past seven or so years we have considered the Tree House II our summer home, albeit for just one week each year! We love this cabin and its features which include wonderful views and smells of the national forest, the sights and sounds of Stellar Jays and an occasional deer and doe, enjoyed from the comforts of a well appointed home. The home features modern conveniences (washer/dryer), microwave, coffee maker (though we do bring our Keurig), flat screen TVs and a pool table! But the loveliest is the wrap around wood deck with tables and chairs that make morning coffee, afternoon snacks and dinner the most wonderful of family times. It's just a quick walk to the Merced for lazy river rock lounging or inter tubing (sometimes gentle, sometimes dangerous). Love the Pine Market (so very close for the basic needs) and the Wawona Library. A rigorous or gentle hike are steps away. I could go on and on and on but you just have to visit for yourselves to become a devoted fan ("FAN"ILY) of 48R. We thank the owners for their care and open door!

Perfect In Many Ways
This vacation home was perfect in many ways. We were glad to have video equipment upstairs and downstairs. The kitchen was very easy to use and was perfect for our large group. We were cozily marooned when the power went out for one day and were appreciative to have the use of your generator. Thank you so much...we had a wonderful time !!
