About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

This cabin met all our needs — great location, well-equipped, cozy, and comfortable. We made Thanksgiving dinner and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed. We can’t wait to come back!

Being near river, quiet, nice balcony
We enjoyed grilling.
Internet not strong enough
Nice cabin located just inside Yosemite National Park. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with all of the cooking equipment needed. The back deck is the perfect place to relax with the sound of the creek just behind the property. The outdoor grill is also great for cooking meals for the family. I would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in Yosemite.

Disappointed
First, we had to check in at 4:00. We got there around 3::30 and the cabin wasn’t ready. We had to wait until 6:00 to get the keys. The cabin is amazing. It looks clean, but there were dog hair all over the living room and on the coaches, we didn’t spend time watching TV because it was disgusting seeing the hair on our clothes. Other than that, everything was fine.
Perfect Retreat with Sight and Sounds of Mountain Stream
We greatly enjoyed our 10 days at this cabin situated back from the road and with a wonderful babbling creek just outside. We spent relaxing hours on the deck listening to birds and watching squirrels And chipmunks scamper. The cabin and deck are clean but it is rustic. The kitchen was fully equipped for any sort of cooking adventure. Staff were responsive and respectful. Overall great escape.

Dirty
The cabin was very dirty. When we arrived the shower was covered in ants, the bathmat was dirty. The carpet was covered in stains. I did not want to take my shoes off or touch anything the entire weekend. I was really disappointed.
Our cabin was perfect. Rustic with all the comforts of home. The back deck was great for morning coffee and after-hike cocktails. The babbling brook right off the deck was the crowning touch. Beds were super comfortable. Plumbing was cabin-esque so you just have to go with the charm. Loved our stay and will be back!

Great Cabin
My friends and I stayed here in February. It was cold and a bit rainy, but the cabin was very comfortable. We had 7 adults and there was enough room for everyone, but with 7 adults you do have to share queen beds so its best if there are couples. The kitchen was well equipped and the fireplace was nice. There is an outside deck that would be excellent in warmer months. The cabin is managed by a local company and that made checking in easy.

Family vacation
We stayed with our 2 girls, ages 6 and 7, and their grandparents in August. The cabin was nicely shaded to keep us cool enough in the hottest month without AC. The back porch overlooked a creek and we loved eating there outside. We saw deer walk within several feet of the cabin which the kids loved. The cabin was cozy and provided us with all that we needed for a week's stay. We would definitely choose to stay again!

Quiet Time!
Thank you for this comfortable little cabin to call our own during our stay. Everything was perfect, right down to the weather. My sister and I will be back soon.
