About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical-drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods In Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Cabin was very dated but we were just thankful to have somewhere to stay considering the one we rented flooded. The staff was great to help us out. We had to be evacuated 4 days early due to fire but enjoyed the time. Would stay here again.

The online description was minimal, could add more details to be better prepared. The property was clean and well furnished. It’s located inside the park but about 1 hour drive to Yosemite valley. The process is easy once you know what to except. Once you arrive to the office they have a bin outside with your registration info and keys. The office was closed when we arrived. We got lost trying to find the house, a bit frustrating. FYI, they provide a map inside the envelope. Most toiletries are provided but make sure to bring your own personal ones like hand soap, shampoo, Conditioner and paper towels, etc. The bed where comfortable but the fold out sofa is sooo old and worn out. Would not recommend anyone sleeping on it. The house also runs on cold side, so bring extra blankets and sweaters. The fire didn’t help out much. The kitchen is stocked with a little bit of everything except any food items. Overall, the place was very clean and fit well with our family. Would recommend.

What an amazing experience at 18b Yosemite. Great home to be based in - all amenities you need for eating in, sleeping and relaxing. Needed heating on first thing as got very chilly but the system worked quickly and efficiently.
Our stay at the cabin was disappointing. The patio was not cleaned; the stairs inside the cabin were not cleaned. The grill on the patio was not clean as well. On the second day of our stay the dishwasher over flooded. We called the office for maintenance. They cleaned the grill and tried to fix the dishwasher but later on it had the same problem. The refrigerator was very old and it was hardly cooling.
The appliances in the unit were very old. They needed replacement. Overall, the unit did not feel comfortable.
The service at the office was good though. They tried their best.
We had a great time at the cabin,. The kitchen was well equipped, the surrounding are beautiful. We enjoyed the river next to the property.
We would recommend to change the Master room's mattress because it was very uncomfortable.

Comfortable and well kept cabin inside Yosemite
We were a family of 6 and the cottage was very cozy and comfortable. We had an excellent stay - not too far from the Village and close to the Chilnualna falls. Lots of snow all around when we landed - good place for kids to enjoy the snow if you visit during winter. All amenities inside the cabin were great. This is a two level home so keep in mind that one bedroom and bathroom is located in the lower level (if you have people that cannot climb stairs).
Great place nonetheless.
