Very comfortable unit in a country setting away from the congestion of York. The only negative point was that the WIFI was weak in the unit we were in. Nice, historical location.

Disliked: Cleanliness, communication, listing accuracy
Sent review to the host 10 days ago right after our departure. She hasn't responded, hence this review. 1. Bathroom: The window can NOT be closed, so there is a gap of 3-4 centimeters. This is absolutely NOT acceptable. It’s obviously not a new thing, but just negligence. Especially in the well expected windy/rainy weekend conditions with severe warnings. 2. The “heating” was at 19,5 degree, which is not very welcoming. 3. Found/trot on dog biscuits in/on the longhaired carpet. So despite the general good looking facility and cleaning there are 1 major and too many other smaller substandard issues, which didn’t gave us a reasonable value for money. We find it quite saddening, when we tried to put business locally instead of in Pocklington or York. So we can not recommend this place, as it doesn't live up to all the fancy words. Sad way to conduct business.

Nice place but a few things amiss

I booked this on the strength of it's rating but found that a few things weren't quite right... Examples: The door did not lock from the inside, there is an Ill fitting bolt on the door but the key was misaligned with the handle so could not be properly locked, The bathroom window did not close fully, There were a few cobwebs throughout the rooms and some dirt around the cupboard handle in the bathroom it had clearly only very briefly been cleaned Hotels.com says checkin was 11am it's 3pm The host has occasionally barky small dogs
