If you are travelling to York parking is an issue, but that is the same in all cities to be fair. Be prepared to pay £30 per 24 hours for Q-Park, it’s out of the hotel’s control, but a factor to consider when visiting York for any hotel without a guest car park. That said, the hotel’s location could not be better for a tourist type stay, you really are in the middle of things and being pedestrianised it is lovely and quiet - except early morning, when trucks are making their deliveries! The hotel itself is very quirky, a beautiful old building. The maintenance was a little off but nothing to impact your stay - a failed bathroom lightbulb and flaking paint on the inside of the windows. Things that good housekeeping shouldn’t miss. We didn’t use any facilities, so I cannot report on that. We had a basic room. Which was very small but also very comfortable. Good bathroom! I would stay again.

It’s a lovely property but in need of maintenance. It is in the busy centre, but sits in the quietness of a courtyard. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant. Breakfast is packed in a bag that you can take with you, so would forego if reduces price as plenty of really nice breakfast places in York, although not many seem to open before 8:30 or 9am.

Loved the history, quirky character. Great shower. I would just suggest a small sign perpendicular to the entramce, as it is hard to spot and can be passed several times before spotting the passageway
