Jorvik - Woodsmill Quay at Queen’s Staithe is in the heart of York; it was originally built in the 19th century and used as a timber mill. York has been a key trading port since Roman times and the River Ouse remained tidal until the construction of Naburn Locks in the 18th century. Since we stayed here last time, the bed has got a bit weary ( we both suffered back aches every morning), so the mattress might need replacing. We understand these holiday rentals get wear and tear, but it would be a good idea for someone with a screwdriver to go around and tighten things up a bit (the shower door, for example, had become very loose on its top hinge). The property has a dedicated parking space and from arrival to departure we did not move the car. We were greeted when we arrived, and the property has everything you would need for comfort with well equipped kitchen and ample living space all with the river views. The bedroom to the rear was cosy and comfortable. The city is right on your doorstep. All of the main attractions within easy walking distance.
