I arrived late after a long day of overseas travel and front desk was very helpful. They made check in easy and walked me directly to my room. My futon bed was made when I arrived, so sleeping was quick and effortless. I was given my breakfast and dinner vouchers at check in. Breakfast was good as it was buffet style with many choices. Traditional Japanese dishes were the focus, but many Western choices were available also. The dinner was much more elaborate than breakfast. Many styles to pick from - tempura, sashimi, and traditional, all with local ingredients. It was very enjoyable. Autumn was at its best as trees were turning to their colorful splendor. The baths on site were excellent. Very relaxing with indoor and outdoor choices. The gift shop had many Yamagata selections to chose from.
