There is a bench at the edge of the property perfect for those sunny days to sit and watch the waves crash along the rocks below, watch the whales spout, or watch the ever changing sunsets. This great home includes premium cable service and WiFi! Need more space? Rent this home along with Big Sea next door (sleeps 6) and/or Breakers (sleeps 4). Reviewer Comments: Wonderful place to stay for my great grandson's birthday. We have had family reunions in the Yachats area since the 1970s. My only complaint is the "sleeper" couch. My daughter and her husband had to put the mattress on the floor, and even then it was not comfortable. Please do not advertise this as a sleeping option. Even as a couch, not folded out, it is too short for one person to sleep on unless they are pretty short. The rental was really clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable - we did not use the pull out bed. The bathroom was clean but really small, and you kind of had to squeeze yourself in. It's an older house with no overhead lighting, so the kitchen/dining area in particular were a little dark - we were doing a puzzle at the table and had to bring one of the living room lamps into the kitchen. The backyard has a spectacular view, but we were a little disappointed that the usable space was so small. We wanted to spend more time outside in the evening, but there most of the yard is covered in shrubs with just a park bench and small patch of grass at the end, so it was only really suitable for 2 people max to be out there at a time. The pictures of the yard are accurate, but we just thought the usable space was going to be bigger. There are also no side gates to keep children/pets contained in the backyard. The location is also great. We were able to walk to restaurants and had easy access to the bluff, and it was an easy drive to hikes and sandy beaches. ##### Rochelle K. Reviewer Comments: Docs Retreat has a stellar location with a stunning view from its backyard bench. A older home with an odd entrance, once you walk inside the home it’s cozy and very functional. No recent remodel, older furniture, but we fell in love with Docs retreat in quick order. The main bedroom has a high profile height firm bed that is very near the single bathroom. The second bedroom has a softer bed and a very small closet, and is on the other side of living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with silverware and dishes, pans. A dishwasher and w/d make the stay completely fuss free. There are exceptional views from the kitchen and living room windows, though the backyard bushes were a bit overgrown when we were there. The back yard is deep, but the observation bench is easily accessed by a cement walkway. There are books and movies and dvds..all the electronics you need, cable tv with Netflix, and other smart tv features. A wood burning stove in the living room, though we didn’t use. Every room has a wall heater that warms you up quickly. A vacume cleaner is available in the hot water heater closet if your stay is long. We stayed 3 weeks and would go again in a heartbeat. One caveat, we told property mgrs about a broken blind in the living room, they didn’t offer to fix the blind so we placed it on the sill, and had sun in our eyes for 3 weeks. We didn’t complain but it was a nuisance. For that reason I gave a 4/5 rating. ##### Dale F. Reviewer Comments: First let me say Ocean Odyssey is a wonderful company to work with. As far as the cottage goes it was lacking is a couple areas. While they allow pets there is no grass. Front and back is some shrubby plants..we knew the ocean views would limited because of how far back the house sits but then these shrubs blocked it even more. It would be ok for a couple days but we were there for 3 weeks. Inside and furniture typical of some lower end rentals we have stayed at before. Love staying in the village so we can walk. The house itself is nice, but could use some TLC and updating. The backyard is not totally fenced in for dogs, but is manageable. Reviewer Comments: Doc's Retreat was a classic Yachats home from a simpler time. We enjoyed the quaint cottage and were extremely comfortable. Shower is quite small and the washing machine very finicky. The view from the outdoor bench is not only amazing, but the crashing surf brings a sense of peace and calm. We've visited Yachats from Texas for 10 years now and would be delighted to stay in this home again. Walking distance to town and exceptional food is easily accessible. The 804 trail, Cape Perpetua, Heceta Head and other excellent hiking areas are nearby. ##### Pamela M.
