Don’t fancy cooking? A short stroll will bring you to the local pub which serves a superb dining menu and a welcoming atmosphere to complement. Head upstairs where there are two well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a king-size bedroom and a charming twin bedroom, each promising a delightful space to wake up to each morning. Refresh in the downstairs bathroom and take advantage of the large rainfall shower ahead of another exciting day.
Head outside to the shared cobbled patio area and enjoy a BBQ or some al fresco dining whilst capturing some pleasant sunsets. Head into Chatton; a gorgeous country village nestled in the pretty Northumbrian Valley, bordered by the Cheviots. The village has a great pub, recently renovated and it serves hearty Northumbrian dishes in a hunting-lodge inspired interior. The village store and Chatton art gallery compliment the quaint village atmosphere and the village green planted with pretty shrubs in the summer. Keen walkers are sure to be impressed by St Cuthberts Way, a 100-kilometre long-distance trail between the Scottish Borders town of Melrose and Lindisfarne off the coast of Northumberland, named after a 7th-century saint. The nearby town of Wooler is set along the last leg of the journey, so you needn’t traverse the full length. Wooler itself is just under 4 miles away and features a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants and facilities such as a post office and chemist.
If you fancy something exciting, why not visit Chillingham Castle just over 2 miles from Flossy’s House and book onto one of their ghost tours! Why not try something a little different? Discover your inner country-self and try clay pigeon shooting at Fowberry Moor Farm in Wooler, where they also offer wine tasting too! A short 20 minute drive brings you to the popular village of Bamburgh! Bamburgh is a stunningly attractive small village set on the Northern stretch of the Northumberland Coast. It is without doubt dominated by its magnificently striking castle that can be seen for miles around, giving the whole village a somewhat dramatic feeling.
Why not hit the waves yourself with a trip to the Farne Islands? Take a boat trip from Seahouses and see the medieval Pele Tower and Victorian Lighthouse, as well as the famous seabird colony. Depending on the time of year, you might catch a glimpse of the friendly seals and puffins that visit the islands’ shores. Golfers flock to Bamburgh, where the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club offers a particularly picturesque round. It’s short but tough and boasts some of the best views in the country!

Flossy’s House was lovely and comfortable with everything you would want, except for Wi-Fi which was practically non existent. Just a minor thing… a radio would be nice and also a hair dryer. But these are purely personal items which would have made a difference to us.It must be said that the views around the cottage are incredible.

We really enjoyed staying at Flossy's.
We really enjoyed staying at Flossy's. The house itself was tastefully decorated, finished to a very high standard, and incredibly well-kept. The welcome biscuits and coffee were gratefully received. We especially appreciated how dog-friendly the hosts were, with a full basket of useful dog equipment provided, and your furry pal even permitted on the sofa (with special dog blankets provided). Some small (& hopefully constructive) feedback...Both doors stick (mainly the front, but also the back a little) and are difficult to close without using some force. Slamming the back door shut was disruptive when taking the dog out early in the morning for a wee, so we left the door ajar until we were both up so we didn't disturb the other if they were sleeping. It would be useful to provide a hairdryer. I don't think I've ever stayed in a self-catering house that hasn't offered one, so sadly I didn't take mine with me. And finally, we were not fans of the automatic bathroom light. If you needed to use the bathroom overnight, you had no choice but to be faced with a very bright light. Meanwhile, showering on an evening the light sensor would go off leaving you in the dark, and you had to open the shower door and wave your arms around to get it to come back on again.
