We booked two night at Windermere park hotel for the 30th and 31st December 2020.
We received the news on the 30th that Cumbria was to go into tier 4 at 00:01 the following morning.
The hotel were absolutely fantastic at keeping us up to date with the procedures that followed this.
We were told we had to vacate the property at 11am on the 31st and breakfast was not allowed to be served downstairs. As an alternative, they had delivered out pieces of paper with breakfast options on, and did room service to every room so we didn’t miss out on our morning meal.
The hotel is lovely inside, lots of little stairways and has an old but classic feel to it.
We were in the family room on the top floor and the only downside to our stay was that the hotel didn’t have a lift. We had 3-4 bags to get up about 3 flights of stairs which was really hard work with my foot in plaster, my wife 8 months pregnant plus an 8 year old and a dog in tow. Just wish we had known about this before hand.
The room however was fantastic, wet spacious and had a cosy feel in the main bedroom area, lovely view out of the bedroom skylight window.
The main positive about this place though was the lady on reception, what a fantastic host and so good with my excited daughter who woke to snow in the morning. She refunded our night back no problems and she also helped me with my bags to the car.
Will return again when Covid has gone, the new baby is here and foot is out of plaster!!
