M. 11 Aug 2014 #### Family Fun Together My immediate and extended family had a great time together in Wimberley, TX staying at the Star Ranch (we rented both the Main House and the Cottage). The Main House is spacious and lovely. In fact, the 14 photos on VRBO do not adequately represent the generous size and positive features of this property. The VRBO description is also inaccurate in some regards. FYI – The description says the Main House “has a gourmet kitchen that is every cook’s dream”. It is a very nice big kitchen, but we felt it was insufficiently stocked with dishes and utensils for the size and quality of the home. In addition to the dining area that seats 8, the breakfast area that seats 4, and the 4 kitchen counter stools, there is also a nice dining table on the rear patio that seats 6. The 3rd Bedroom (bunk room) of the Main House currently has 3 sets of bunk beds and the 2nd Bedroom of the Cottage has 1 set of bunk beds. The Cottage is located on the property, but is up the private drive about ½ mile from the Main House. There are some simple things that we feel should be done and/or provided which would make the experience more enjoyable for guests at this property, and we have emailed the owner with these specific suggestions. During our stay, my family enjoyed swimming, taking walks, scenic drives, shopping, visiting wineries, an olive orchard, a beer brewery, and a rum distillery, golf in Blanco, lunch at The Leaning Pear, barbecue from Miss Mae’s, and pies from The Sugar Shack. The two “friendly donkeys” on the property were amusing (wish we knew their names). Of course, the highlight for our family was just spending time together. The home's flowing floorplain (4 toilets) and furnishings were very impressive. Everyone had their privacy and lots of room to explore the grounds. Our main disappointment was that the pool was not clean and we could not use it. Over all our Thanksgiving adventure was priceless! We even saw wild turkeys cross the lawn in the mornies. After walking barefoot inside the house, the bottoms of our feet were black. Dirty water while cleaning up? Coffee machine was not clean. Majority of the kitchen drawers had crumbs and dirt inside. Refrigerator had a leak, at lower bottom front door. Water was leaking on to the floor at all times. Had to keep a towel there to mop up the water. Very nice, large home with dated furtniture. Dish TV was not very relieable. Pool and patio was great and the road to the house a one-of-a-kind driveway, nice that is. The decor is beautiful , spacious and welcoming. Easy access and clear instructions for arrival. Sleeping accommodations are as stated with extra linen available in closets.The home itself is in need of some maintenance. Doors that are very difficult, to impossible to close, debris in corners, and window seals. Floors were not clean, because you could not walk barefoot in home without getting dirty feet. The pool is very pretty but there is no lighting; my sons had to do some cleaning before using. Must bring your own water, sulfur smell in all sinks/faucets with use.Fantastic utility room for laundry,etc. Would not work for handicapped clientele. It was great for a big group. We had 12 people, but we really could've fit 13 people in beds. There is a king in the master, a queen in one guest room, 5 single beds and a full-size bed in the bunk room, and a pull-out in the office. This doesn't include couches or places for blow-up mattresses either. The guest room and the bunk room have a Jack-and-Jill type bathroom. This is in addition to a half-bath, the master bath, and a giant full-length mirror in the entry way, which was perfect for all 8 girls to get ready. The only reason I am giving 4 stars, instead of 5, is the fact that the fridge/freezer broke halfway through our visit. The property manager didn't see my message right away. When she did, she came right over to check it out though. Unfortunately with it being right around New Years, no repair man would come out. Thankfully, it was cold enough outside that we could keep the salvageable food out there in coolers. The property manager also offered to go get us a giant cooler and ice if we needed it. H., Austin, TX 10 Jan 2017 #### Beautiful house We spent the weekend with 9 girls in this house and it was amazing. Plenty of room for us all with lots to do. The house was clean and well maintained. It has a real homey feel. The owner responded to all questions in a timely manner before, during, and after our stay. The house is off the road about 3/4 a mile and it makes you feel like you are secluded but you are just minutes from Wimberley. We will absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a great getaway! ##### Misty D. H. The house was spacious and had a great kitchen and hang out area. The property was gorgeous and we loved the back patio. The owner was quick to respond with questions. When we arrived, the home did not greet us well. It was musty and took awhile to air out. There were dirty towels in the laundry room and overall we did not feel the home was as clean or as well equipped as the amount we paid for it.
