Although we used the hotel as a base, we could have easily have spent more time around the hotel pool. The hotel room was very clean, large and comfortable. We chose a room that had large patio windows which opened onto an upstairs balcony. The rooms had a “luxury” feel about them. Breakfast was great...everything you could ask for. We could not fault the hotel accommodation. Please note, there was nothing going on in the hotel, the hotel was a place to sleep and relax. The hotel was close to the small village and the long, wide beach at Wilderness (5-10 minute walk). There were half a dozen very decent bar/restaurants in the village. The rooms are huge and have a lovely balcony facing the garden. (Note - if you're sensitive to perfume smell, the room had a strong oil scented vase which at times was slightly overwhelming.) Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Our hosts were gracious and accommodating - very helpful with making dinner reservations, etc. However, they lacked the ability to help us plan out our day of exploring the area. The location was good because we flew in and out of the George airport which is close by. We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite, and everyone in the staff did their utmost to make us feel comfortable. The rooms have everything you can ask for, and the common areas are very nice with a lot of different places to sit down and talk or have a drink in the honesty bar. They have a great pool area surrounded by the big house as well as a small gym.
