Parkhotel Bremen – ein Mitglied der Hommage Luxury Hotels Collection

8/10 Good

"Parking was great . Location was great . Lovely hotel . But at noon we wanted coffee and a cake in the large dining room off the reception . The waitress told us that we could only have coffee as the kitchen was closed . I told her that the two ladies on the next table just had cake served to them . She promptly told me that they knew the chef ! Not really acceptable for a 5 star hotel . She said the kitchen was open in half an hour ."

STAYERY Bremen Altstadt

8/10 Good

"This is a clean, modern building that is an easy walk from the main station and the city centre. We would stay tkere again. A quiet area (Nanking Chinese restaurant nearby is good!). The room was comfortable and having a fridge was useful. You need a code to get in when you arrive (this is sent) then you go through an iPad check in. Luckily staff were there to help. There are washing machines and dryers operated via an app, but easy enough. Only complaint: a broken shower head reported and wasn't fixed during our stay. Cleaning staff should have picked up on this before we arrived anyway."

PLAZA Premium Columbus Bremen

10/10 Excellent

"Great place close to the train station. A little walk (5min) into the historic center, but it was perfect for me as someone traveling later in the evening with several bags from the train station. Staff were so friendly and helpful. I needed guidance for shipping a package home to the US and they offered to take it on for me due to a holiday and closures. I received clear communication from them until it was shipped out. Room was clean and nice with lovely view of the train station!"

Steigenberger Hotel Bremen

10/10 Excellent

"Fab modern room overlooking the river towards the city. The hotel has lovely sauna/ steam room facilities on the top floor by beware these are only open from 5 pm and not available if you want to use them in the morning. We chose not to eat in the hotel restaurant but at one of the many busy restaurants available locally. The lovely City of Bremen was a short walk along the river from the hotel, well worth doing. Secure Parking was available next the hotel at a very reasonable rate."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Wichenhausen?

The best area to stay in Wichenhausen for quality and convenience is the Altstadt (Old Town) due to its central location and historic character.

The Altstadt is the heart of Wichenhausen, characterised by its well-preserved medieval architecture, cobblestone streets, and the iconic Wichenhausen Castle overlooking the river. Many of the town's best restaurants, boutique shops, and cultural sites are concentrated around Marktplatz and along Hauptstrasse. It's a very walkable area, making it easy to explore on foot.

For couples, the Altstadt offers a romantic and picturesque setting. You'll find charming hotels with views of the castle or the river, and evenings can be spent enjoying gourmet dining or exploring the quiet alleyways. The proximity to the Wichenhausen Castle and its gardens provides lovely opportunities for leisurely strolls.

Families will also find the Altstadt convenient. Many attractions, such as the local history museum and the puppet theatre, are within easy reach.

When is the best time to go to Wichenhausen?

The best time to visit Wichenhausen is during the warmer months, from late spring (May) through early autumn (September), when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities and exploring.

During this period, the average temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for walking, cycling, and enjoying Wichenhausen's natural surroundings. The longer daylight hours also allow for more time to explore the local attractions.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will particularly appreciate Wichenhausen in June or July. The gardens and parks are in full bloom, and there are often local markets and outdoor events to enjoy. It's a wonderful time for leisurely strolls along the Aller River or exploring the historic town centre without the chill of winter.

For those who enjoy a quieter experience with beautiful scenery, September is an excellent choice. The summer crowds have thinned, and the autumn foliage begins to show, offering a picturesque backdrop for hiking or visiting the nearby nature reserves.
