The dog-friendly apartment is perfect for romantic retreats and coastal family breaks. Just a short stroll form the bright lights of Whitby, you are certainly not far from the action. The Space: West Cliff View has a minimalist style which is accented perfectly with splashes of colour and texture. The modern and stylish apartment is furnished to the highest standard throughout. The open-plan living area is a relaxing space complete with a flat-screen TV and a gorgeous tapestry feature. The rattan chairs in the large bay window compliment the room perfectly. The cosy kitchen is modern and bright. It is equipped with an oven, fridge, microwave and toaster so you have everything you could need for your stay. Enjoy a delicious coffee on a morning as the kitchen is complete with a coffee machine. In the main bedroom, you’ll find a monochromatic style which looks fabulous with the industrial furnishings. The tranquil space is the perfect place to relax after a long day of exploring Whitby. The second bedroom has a homely feel with hint of the same industrial style. You’ll find pops of colour amongst the neutral palette. The bathroom is stylish and modern with a huge walk in shower. Guest Access: Guests have access to the full apartment. The keys to West Cliff View are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date. We provide a parking scratch card for your stay which gives you free parking in the W zones. The Neighborhood: Set on the West side of Whitby, West Cliff View is just a short 10-minute walk into the centre of town. Head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll notice the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk. Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the East bank which is full of narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and even more fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’. Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks. Getting Around: The centre of Whitby is a short ten-minute walk from West Cliff View. Whitby train station is less than half a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station. There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm. Other Things to Note: We welcome 1 small, well behaved dog. Please note the TV uses Wi-Fi demand channels, such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub. You can watch live TV on some of these channels and catch up television on the others. The apartment was spotless and is very modern and lovely. The instructions we were given via email were very good and easy to follow. We were asked to pay 2 different accidental damage waiver fees and spent hours on the phone trying to sort this out, we eventually got a refund for one of them. Communication with Host and Stay and VRBO was poor, we kept getting passed from one person to another and were often put on hold or the line went dead. The double beds were against a wall which meant climbing over each other to get in and out of bed. The TV did not have normal channels such as ITV, BBC etc so I guess the property owner did not have a TV licence. The pans were dirty and unusable, the table was too small and did not have enough chairs for 4 people. The sofa was uncomfortable and the 2 basket type chairs were damaged and falling apart. The shower did not have a grab rail or non-slip mat. There were no cupboards, drawers or shelves to put anything in, you had to put your clothes on the floor when you went to bed. The front entrance door was insecure and often left open by guests in the other flats. The location was OK as it was only a short walk into Whitby town centre. ##### Terry D.
