A fully furnished house with a fully stocked kitchen which will allow you to either eat here or eat out.
We bought this around 5 years ago and it has taken a while to get it renovated to what it is today. It was quite a job with not much going in the direction of how we wanted it to! But by this time we are very happy with how it is and hope that you are too.
Whangamomona is largely a place to relax and enjoy. Or you can go exploring the village and even walk the Whangamomona Road which is sure to please.
There are many points of history around this area with a lot of wonderful pictures to view in the McCluggage Store, right next door.
We have a library of books for you to enjoy reading and a good few magazines to get through. Games are stacked on the bookshelf for a fun night in.

Lovely setting to overnight in, quaint historical village. The actual Whangamomona Pub was on winter opening hours, only open Thursday to Sunday, if you are going to stay other nights, take dinner supplies 😊. Loved the peace and quiet
The butcher shop is a comfortable size for a 1bedroom. Had everything we needed and was clean. Has a good sized covered outside area. You can see the pub from the front door. We had an excellent sleeps because the town was so quiet at night, not even cars in the distance or anything, just some crickets and the odd bird. The locals and other visitors to town were all very chill, approachable and friendly.
Upmarket rustic. We (two friends) stayed just one night but could easily have done another night. Great accommodation if you are a bigger group. Comms were good. We were a little unsure about the check in but used a bit of commonsense. Heavy rain prevented us making more of the outdoor space.
We were a little worried as to how we would fill a day in Whangamomona. We had no problem, it is a quirky little town and we enjoyed just looking around and talking to people. The proximity to the hotel was great and we enjoyed our meals there. We were pleasantly surprised at the food left for us to use.
Thoroughly reccommend this property.
It's an old shop so it's a bit worn, but it has more than everything you need for a comfortable stay. Good fireplace and lots of firewood, books, magazines, games. Breakfast provisions laid on which was unexpected but very convenient. Good shower. Less than a 1 minute walk to the pub for meals.

Our stay ...
Our stay was a bit of a misadventure. We had booked the Butchers shop but the property had been double booked. Lucky they had other properties there for us to stay. So played musical chairs with the houses available. While comfy bed and reasonably clean and tidy the cooking facilities were well below suitable. The BBQ was filthy and un-usable. The TV we could not get to work at all. Bring your own frypan if wanting to cook a meal! Overall we did enjoy our stay. Dinner at the pub was great!
Great stop in Whangamomona. The outside space is awesome. Comfortable beds and superb shower. Great communication and friendly host. Kitchen stove could do with a thorough clean and some more utensils, but overall it was great.
The Butchers shop was a great place to stay to see and do lots on the Forgotten Highway. Close to the famous pub, it was clean cosy and very comfortable. Great place to stay!
Enjoyed our stay .Nice to have the fire lit when we arrived on a crisp afternoon and needed the fire on the cold evening.Great meal and evening at the pub next door.
Everything we needed in the place, great sitting outside and chating to passers by. Highly recommended many thanks

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
All good, as advertised, clean tidy, good high pressure shower bread and breakfast material was a nice surprise. Never found the backdoor key and saw the WIFI router but couldn't find a password. That may have been more to do with me as I left the printed instructions at home and the Book a Batch log on is a bit past this old fella
Such a beautfiul location and the property was as described. We had everthing we needed and even had some friendly sheep to pat. Easy to pop over the road to the pub for a drink and food also.
Nice place with great history. Not a lot to do of course, once you have walked the town and read the history. Place was extremely hot and a fan would have been great. Really uncomfortable trying to sleep in that heat.
Property was quaint & quirky. Loved having the fire (essential for keeping property warm). There was no coffee plunger available but coffee so had to borrow from accross the road. Great position in town.
We went to my cousins "wake" and I know the area.
I did not know it was privately owned "Butchers Shop "B&B. It was everything we could wish for and so
like a shooters rest, even a tin of spaghetti. Thank You.
Absolutely incredible! Cosy, quaint, quirky, warm, well stocked and the FIRE 🔥 Wow it was just delightful! Kept us snug and warm through the night. The whole house is immaculate and the outside huge table and area was just fantastic. Great for two or a family. We would have to say this lovely gem is the best accommodation stay we have ever had! It was so nice as it was our last stay on our journey around New Plymouth.
Definitely recommend !!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
