Westpark

The hotel is a bit dated but clean and functional. Comfy bed and nice shower. Bear in mind there's no air conditioning but a desk fan was provided. Great location opposite the river and easy walk to the attractions, 5 mins from the Cathedral and station.

The hotel is located not too far from the main train station making it a pleasant walk. There are lots of cafes and restaurants nearby as well as a nice patio on their on-site Green resto. The staff were so very helpful; they were able to lend ma a wire to charge my iphone overnight as mine was not working. Also forgot my e-reader in the room which they held for me up to 6 days when I was able to pick it up! Truly outstanding service!

I was a little worried as it was one of the least expensive hotels I could find in Cologne but I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel is only about an 8 min. walk from the main train station and about a 2-3 minute walk from the Heumarkt where you have many amazing options for meals. We had a courtyard view from our room which was pleasantly quiet so I can't give my opinion on how loud or quiet a street facing room would be. The hotel was very clean and seemed well maintained. The staff were very friendly. If you are a smoker there is a small patio in the courtyard where you can sit. Our room was quite nice especially the bathroom. If I were going to complain about anything it would be that there is no coffee maker in the room and the mini fridge is full of beverages you can buy so if you want to put your own food or drinks in the fridge there really isn't room. I can't give an opinion on breakfast as we went out to eat instead. Overall it was a surprisingly great stay (considering the price per night) and I will gladly stay here again if/when I come back to Cologne!
