You'll be tucked away just 1km from the beach and can explore the island using this cottage as your home away from home! We would be happy to help you plan the perfect holiday. The cottage was designed to be very open and airy with shutters for windows instead of glass panes, and there is an additional ceiling fan and A/C in the bedroom to keep you cool in the Barbados sunshine. The open plan living area features a very comfortable sitting area and TV with a ceiling fan, and the kitchen is stocked with all the appliances and kitchenware you'll need on vacation. The bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed, A/C, ceiling fan, closet space and an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom is unique with an indoor/outdoor shower that has two shower heads, and a beautiful shell and stone vanity. The cottage is located on the "platinum" West Coast of Barbados, but is tucked away in a neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle. There may be some neighbourhood noises heard from time to time (roosters, dogs, etc). The beach is located just 1km away, and further down the coast are restaurants, bars, and shopping centers. Whilst the cottage is in walking distance of the beach / main coast road, the return trip will be uphill. The property manager is just a phone call away should you need assistance. Please know that we can assist you with anything you need to make this an amazing vacation from the get-go: dining recommendations, snorkel excursions, island tours.. and more are just some of the things we can assist with. Complimentary housekeeping services are offered 1 day a week. We also had monkeys on the property one morning which was lovely to see. We enjoyed the outdoor shower/ bathroom concept but I would advise that this does mean the bathroom often has unexpected guests - frogs, cockroaches, milipedes etc. There were some issues upon check in with the cleanliness of the bedding & towels. Once we spoke with the property manager on this, it was rectified & they were responsive to our issues. I would say that the photos online are quite dated and the property is no longer in the good condition depicted - it requires a refurbishment. There are no windows in the property (aside from in the front door), the rest of the property is only wooden shutters. Definitely not easy to find if you are not familiar with the island, and would recommend not following the directions on AirBNB and just calling when you arrive. The woman we spoke with was so helpful and was able to guide us directly there as opposed to the address on the AirBNB. It is one of 2 gate/guest suites to the main house. It is half-way up Crick Hill, which is steep. We always drove anywhere. There was no hot water at all. The cold-water pressure was also very low, making a shower a dry challenge. We had to shower at a friend's villa or at the beach. We also had no access to the safe until the management came to fix it 5 days ingo a 10 day stay. The neighbours' dogs barked until 1am and the Cockerels woke us up at 5pm. On the plus side, there was washing up liquid, kitchen paper towels, ice trays and a useful washer dryer. The aircon worked fine. The water was an issue. There was enough to get by, but not also to shower. We were not bothered by the noise, but others might be. Hotels close to the ground were all full so I decided to book Marsh Mellow South Cottage through VRBO, although it was a few miles outside of Bridgetown where the cricket was. The accommodation was exactly as advertised and the communication and help through BSL was first calls. I did have a few questions and the occasional minor issue but all were handled quickly and efficiently. The accommodation was great for me, being on my own for this trip and would be excellent for a couple. The cottage is compact, but has everything you need and I slept well in the comfortable bed and a friendly neighborhood cockerel was my alarm call :-). As for location you really do need a car. Walking to the beach would be a challenge even to the fitter people as the cottage is part way up a steep hill. Also, the essential stores are a short drive away in Holetown. Just to note, the the BSL representative organized the car rental for me. The car gave me the chance to explore the island but there are organized tours you could take also. Overall, a great vacation, excellent accommodation, but you do need a car unless you want to spend a lot of money on taxi's. ##### John & Lynn C.
