Just fine!
The Dark Sky Suites is an extremely clean and basic, no frills type of property. Comfortable enough and just fine. Within walking distance of Main Street Westcliffe with dining, coffee and a delicious bakery. Older building so can we be noisy, particularly when on the first floor, the occupants upstairs were very noisy so I'd request an upstairs suite next time.

Very large, open space; super clean, looked freshly painted. Full kitchen and comfortable bed. Quiet and convenient, plenty of parking. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate with our stargazing, but the accommodations were first rate.

I have stayed at the Dark Sky Suites previously and greatly enjoyed my stay. It was exactly the experience I was looking for and offers an ideal location for exploring surrounding mountain ranges. Room and kitchen was well equipped and my interactions with staff were positive. I liked it so much I decided to extend my stay

There was nothing notable or unique about the property. There is no staff. sure why i was put on the first floor of the property in which I was the only guest and not the second floor which would have had a great view of the Wet Valley. Of course, there was no staff to address the issue.

A few upgrades and your golden
When I arrived, around 8:30 pm, using the self access code was no problem. Unfortunately when I opened the door the air conditioning was turned off and the room was stifling hot. I quickly found the window air conditioner and turned it on high to try and bring the room temp down. Finished getting settled, found the room very clean, but not that well appointed. The microwave was sitting on the counter where you are to eat, work and do just about everything. The chair with rollers which I assume was for working at the desk was too low and not adjustable. This I could have worked with but when it came time for bed, I wanted to turn off the A/C and open the windows for fresh air since it was a nice cool night. Problem there was the front window by the kitchen had no screen so that was out since the bugs were thick from the porch light. The last but certainly not least issue was there was the very old refrigerator was running non-stop and was keeping me awake. Finally at around 2:30 in the morning I got up, took a table knife and found the temp adjustment and turned it almost all the way off so it would stop running. It came back on in about 20 minutes so I gave up. To say the least I got a horrible nights sleep and was not fresh for my work day. I would not recommend this hotel. Get some newer appliances and you will justify the nightly rate and have satisfied customers.

Great place when visiting Westcliffe
The motel is just down a sidestreet off the main drag through town so very convenient. We could walk to everything, including a park where we could see the stars better. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bath products are very nice and are on pumps on the wall (eco-friendly). The only two negatives were that neighboring guests must have been smoking pot and so our room smelled like it whenever they lit up. Also, the instructions on the website were a little confusing as to what pre-check in and post-check in instructions you'd get and when. Also note this is a pay-on-site (no one is actually there) place and Hotels.com will NOT let you apply any free night credits because of that. That's an issue with Hotels.com not telling you that - absolutely no reflection on the Suites - just wanted to alert potential guests: you won't be able to apply credits here. Watch out for this with Hotels.com in general.

I am sorry to hear that your experience was impacted by this, please know we do take this seriously. Instructions on check-in/out are emailed to each guest upon booking but I will see if I can make them more visible on our website as well to avoid confusion. Bed was very uncomfortable. Lack of an attendant is not a good thing. I had a little trouble finding the password for the room, another guest wasn't able to access his email and couldn't get to it all. He tried the number on the window and no one was available.

All of our guests receive a confirmation email explaining the process as well as an email AND text with the room code prior to check-in. We strive to offer exceptional customer service and to respond to any questions or concerns promptly. A team member is available by phone from 8 am -10pm every day as well as local staff nearby should any onsite issues arise.

Hotel is definitely overpriced in my opinion. Also Shower water temp cannot be regulated. Either scalding, or cold. Would not recommend.

Only one chair to sit on to watch TV. No cream. Coffee pot was broken, you had to hold it closed or else it would spring openn. The shower was excellent.

We came to the area to shoot some of the nigh skies in this dark sky community. The room was simple and checkin was easy and convenient. The room was expensive for what it was but, I find everything expensive. I had a few issues with an otherwise, normal room - 1) The shower was way too small. You had to move the shower curtain so that you could turn on the water to get it warm before you got in. Very easy to get water on the floor. 2) The window shades were not very private. It was easy to look in the room when the shades were pulled down. 3) There was only one roll of toilet paper. 4) The bed was comfortable but only one pillow per side, many people need a couple pillows to sleep comfortably. Other than these issues, the location was very convenient within walking distance of downtown. Very timely information on check in and check out.
