A good night away

Posted 02-May-2016
Pros: It's position, it's style and the staff
Cons: The price of a Bailey's coffee was very expensive.
The hotel was very close to the railway station and easy to find. Very convenient for the shops, restaurants and the theatre. It is a fine old building that has an elegant and modern interior. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good.

Ok for a conference

Posted 10-Feb-2016
Pros: The location
Cons: The décor and furnishings
Location: Central
I stayed one night for the purposes of attending a conference in the hotel so it was very convenient. The staff were friendly. I received an upgrade to a superior room which was spacious and my room requests were honoured but the main problem is the age of the hotel and lack of recent renovation. The room was a rather depressing décor with stained items of furniture. The windows are very old sash windows which didn't lock properly and don't screen out any external noise. I had to lift the room door slightly to engage the lock properly. The bed was good though and the room had all necessary amenities. The other problem could be parking. I was lucky to get one of the few underground spaces in the hotel. Otherwise you have to park at the station which would be a security risk walking at night by oneself. The food provided for the conference lunch was very good. In conclusion, needs updating.

Comfiratable stay, perfect location

Posted 01-Feb-2016 on Hotels
Overall the stay was comfirtable. I was there only for a night. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to the train station and the offices. Room was clean but the corridors felt a bit damp and had unplesant smell. Bar has good food options. I tried the Chicken tikka curry and it was great. Staff overall is very friendly and helpful.

Excellent hotel

Posted 21-Jan-2016 on Hotels
Excellent hotel with really good staff - professional yet personable. I would happily stay here again. My single room was v comfortable and a good size (though I am told their other singles are smaller). Great breakfast. The only thing stopping this hotel from getting full marks is the lack of proper gym facilities (only a micro gym) and that my bath tub was flaking everywhere (presumably it had been painted at some point? weird).

Charming but needs so help

Posted 15-Jan-2016
Pros: Lobby was charming. The dinner was delicious.
Cons: Water pressure in shower (5th floor) a dribble. Room was quite warm with no ability to adjust heat. White wine was warm!
I stayed at the Met on business. My meeting was in the hotel so I stayed the night before.
