Charming but needs so help

Posted 15-Jan-2016
Pros: Lobby was charming. The dinner was delicious.
Cons: Water pressure in shower (5th floor) a dribble. Room was quite warm with no ability to adjust heat. White wine was warm!
I stayed at the Met on business. My meeting was in the hotel so I stayed the night before.

Expected more for my money

Posted 01-Dec-2015
Pros: Well trained staff, very accommodating.
Cons: Better bathrooms. Rolling program of repainting and repair.
Location: Couple of minute walk from the train station. Almost, but not quite, in the city centre. Great for shopping and restaurants.
Firstly the staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom was a nice room, very comfortable, but the bathroom was disappointing. Not sure when the bathroom door last saw a lick of paint but there were grubby ingrained fingerprints down the inside. The bathroom itself was what I would expect from a far cheaper room. Functional but nothing special, as this was supposed to be a superior room, it was sadly lacking. Rigid shower screen made turning the taps on very difficult and the bath was basic. However the bathroom was clean. The complementary robes were not clean. There was make up evident on one robe and a long black hair folded inside. New robes were sent up, properly packaged and very promptly but the damage was still done. And I felt the need to check the bed sheets and towels (all of which were clean) To end on a high note however we ordered room service. Charges were about what we would expect. The food was delicious and very fresh and the recommended wine was lovely. Well done to the staff, but this hotel needs a bit of an overhaul in terms of decor.

good location

Posted 02-Nov-2015
Pros: location
Cons: reduce the heating. Repair the old fashioned windows so you can fully open them.
Despite the hotel providing a fan, the room we had was far too hot. The radiator was switched off but we had to keep our window open and the fan on all night. Other than that, room was clean and tidy but looks like it could do with a bit of TLC to brighten it up a bit.

I requested early breakfast for religious reasons. Having agreed it all there was no breakfast the following morning. Staff began to blame each other. Hotel room was old bathroom looked like 1980s

very small double room

Posted 22-Oct-2015 on Hotels
the room we were given was very poky and small, not 4star at all. when we phoned reception they upgraded us to a executive room, this was very nice however I would not have paid executive price for it. The room is very noisy as it is the original windows with no inner glazing.
