Angela Hodge rented our property, and we informed her several hours before her arrival that the hot tub controller had stopped working and was not functioning correctly. Specifically, the jet button wouldn't turn on the high jets. However, the hot tub was still functioning and up to operating temperature. After Angela arrived, she stayed for several hours until around 9:10 pm. Despite our policy stating that we were unavailable after 9 pm, she demanded a full refund and claimed she was unhappy with the hot tub situation. We tried to see what could be done to help her, but nothing except a full refund would appease her, and she was leaving immediately. We attempted to resolve the issue but were unsuccessful. Therefore, my family and I went to the property to try and resolve the issues or see them gone. However, when we arrived, we found Angela and her partner in the hot tub, which she had earlier claimed was not working. She seemed to be enjoying a nice, quiet evening in the hot tub. We spoke with Angela at length, and eventually, we all agreed that she would stay and we would give her a partial refund. We thought everything was settled, but two days later, VRBO contacted us, stating that Angela wanted a full refund, even though she had stayed and agreed to a partial refund. We had to discuss the matter again with a third party, but it still wasn't to her liking. Six days later, we received a notification from the bank that Angela stated that she had not authorized the payment and that we had fraudulently charged her account, which opened up a whole new can of worms. We believe that it is only fair to warn any prospective owners to be aware of this guest. We will not be renting to her ever again.

Gayla, It was wonderful meeting you and your husband. He was a delight to talk to and carried himself with great composure. I understand that you felt the need to vent, but it seems that some of the things you said are not entirely accurate. If you had read the house rules or been honest about the number of guests that would be staying, you would have known what to expect. Unfortunately, I have no control over the neighbors' arguments. On the positive side, I appreciate that you left our place in good condition even when you were upset. It speaks volumes about your character and shows that you are a good person at heart. Sorry you feel that way. But I did respond and told you to engage the refund policy with Vrbo. As for my not responding all the many other text we was dealing with something ourselves and was out of pocket till the following Monday. But you shouldn’t miss lead by posting you had an emergency because as you stated yourself you had changed your mind and that was sometime later that afternoon after check in time that you sent your first text and at that time you stated that you was still a couple hours away and had decided not to come. I could post the texts you sent saying so. But you are the one who has tried to usurp the cancellation policies and cancel after the fact, and so you understand my position I had turned two groups away earlier that day for the time you had booked. I am truly sorry that you didn’t take the time to come and stay we believe you would have truly enjoyed your stay.
