Coach House In The Picturesque Village Of Mere

Coach House is situated in the beautiful town of Mere, ideally located behind the medieval Castle Hill where Mere Castle once stood. With shops, pubs, parks and rolling countryside all within walking distance The Coach House is ideal for your holiday. Situated in the old part of the town our nearest pub is a 2 minute walk away, and a quick walk up Castle Hill will enable you to take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding three counties (Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset). There are many attractions within an hours drive from the property. Take a trip into Salisbury and visit one of England's best Cathedrals, or submerge yourself in the world of Austen by spending a day in Bath with its stunning Georgian Architecture and the famous Roman Baths. A 20 minute drive will take you to the impressive Longleat (and safari park), home to the Marquess of Bath, and there are numerous National Trust properties nearby, (the closest being Stourhead) - many of which have been used as film locations and all steeped in English history and charm.

The Coach House consists of kitchen, dining room, sitting room, downstairs w.c. and utility cupboard (washer/dryer) - upstairs there are two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and a bathroom with shower head attachment (no standing shower). Outside there is off road parking for one vehicle, a patio and a small fenced/gated garden. There is wifi at the property.

Mere was quite busy over the Bank Holiday weekend, but this was not a problem. We had an excellent meal in the Stapleton Arms, Buckhorn Weston. The owners and staff were lovely, and they serve fresh fish daily.

We had a truly wonderful stay at The Coach House, and managed to visit lots of lovely local towns all a short distance away, Frome and Shaftesbury were both highlights with lovely independent shops and spots to eat. The house is very comfortable and perfect for a family looking for a cosy escape. Mere is a beautiful little town, Helen was a great host and we had everything we needed on hand for a really relaxing stay surrounded by stunning walks and scenery.

Great stay.

Coach House was the perfect location for our short break. The rustic cottage is comfortable, clean and has all the facilities needed for a home from home stay. History Festival Visit

We stayed for 2 nights whilst in the area for the Chalke History Festival. The Coach House was perfect for our needs and the village of Mere was great for evening meals choices and after dinner drinks. Helen, our host, met us as we arrived and gave us a very warm welcome. We loves our stay at Helens coach house. She is lovely and welcoming and we just had an excellemt time. The coach house is gorgeous and our kids loved visiting the chickens every morning. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely lovely little cottage. Had everything you need for your stay. We met the owner who made us feel very welcome. Great location. We took our grandson the see the festival of light at Longleat and then the Safari the following day. We would definitely book this lovely place again.

Great house and good place to start exploring

We had a great time in the coach house. Helen was very welcoming and the property was even better than the impressions from the website. Everything was clean, the inventory was very complete and the house is very cosy on a rainy day. We did a lot of great trips from Mere. Within 1.5 hours drive there is really a lot to discover. I can really recommend this property.

A lovely accommodation in Mere

A very good equipped house with a little garden. The small village of Mere is almost next to Stourhead House and Gardens. Even other attractions of the counties Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset are easy to reach. Our host Helen was very friendly with a lot of recomandations for activities.

Cosy stay

Located in a lovely village. We went for a lovely meal in a pub called the walnut tree which is a nice 15 minute walk. The coach house is cosy and comfortable.A well equipped kitchen with the added perk of a coffee machine and frother. Host Helen was very responsive to messages and gave us some helpful information about the local area. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful, cosy cottage in Mere

We had another lovely stay over Christmas, this cottage as usual, provides a very comfortable, homely base and met all our needs. Helen always quickly responds to messages and fixed a light bulb within minutes. The cottage is well located within walking distance from the centre. I highly recommend it!

Wonderful secret escape in Mere

This is our 3rd visit .We love the peace and quiet and the ideal location .Helen is always welcoming and helpful with any information.It feels to me like a home from home .The Coach House is so near by to everything you need and is clean and comfortable.The chickens were a nice addition to the nesting birds.Thank you Helen as always .David and Anita :)

Very quaint, excellent location, some of the furniture is a bit worn, and a coffee table in the lounge is needed. Kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook a Christmas dinner! And the Christmas tree was such a nice touch.
