"First of all - we paid double via Expedia compared to the couple in front of me (which paid to the hotel directly). Two things about the hotel we liked: breakfast and the pool. The lady that “welcomed” us at the reception was pretty unfriendly; the hotel was really rundown (starts with a dirty carpet when you walk inside from the parking lot, the balcony floor was horrible condition). And worst: the checkout time ist 10:00h am!!!! The same time the pool opens - I can't imagine any worse customer...

Parkhotel Gueldene Berge

8/10 Good

"Nice & clean Good staff Enough parking for a big vehicle of mine but it’s tricky to get to as it’s just before the traffic lights or after depending which way you are coming from. As it’s a sharp turn and can be easily missed."

Modern loft / kitchen / lounge / terrace / 2 bedrooms.

8/10 Good

Vielen Dank."

3 bedroom cozy apartment in Nebra

10/10 Excellent

"Schöne, große Wohnung und ruhig gelegen. Sehr freundliche Vermieter.

Kurpark Hotel

8/10 Good

"This hotel gets very mixed reviews, which seem to me to reflect guests' differing expectations. The good points. The people who run it are incredibly nice and very helpful. Breakfast is excellent. Rooms are a bit tired and old, but nobody should be surprised by that. They are spotlessly clean, very quiet, and surprisingly cool during the heatwave in June 2026. The hotel is very convenient for the Goethe Theatre. The not so good points. You have to phone them to unlock the door and check you in if you arrive in the evening, which isn't ideal. My (foreign) mobile phone had trouble getting a signal, but turn it off and on again and all was fine. And someone arrived within five minutes. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and no iron. I didn't need to ask for any of these and I don't know whether they would be available if anyone asked for them. All the negative comments about the car park are true. It is incredibly tight for modern cars. Even a normal sized car, like a VW Golf, can get blocked in if someone with another normal size car parks next to it. You certainly couldn't get anything much bigger in there. I would certainly stay here again if I return to the theatre at Bad Lauchstadt, but I'd also make sure that I parked the car somewhere else and walked to the hotel."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Wangen?

The best area to stay in Wangen is the Old Town, known for its historic charm and central location.

This pedestrian-friendly district is the heart of Wangen, characterised by its well-preserved mediaeval architecture, cobblestone streets, and a relaxed pace. The Marktplatz (Market Square) is a central feature, often bustling with local markets and outdoor cafes. You'll find many of the town's key landmarks, such as the Ravensburg Gate and the Martinstor, within easy walking distance.

For couples seeking a romantic and convenient getaway, the Old Town is ideal. For those who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, these periods offer comfortable conditions. The trails around the Wangen valley are particularly enjoyable, with well-maintained paths and stunning vistas of the vineyards and the Elbe river.
