Walkingham Hill with Occaney Holidays from £192

Lovely stay . Breakfast was really nice recommend especially the eggs . No tv due to problems with the mast no fault of the hotel. . Dogs no problem will be back vey soon october soon

Little things were annoying, for example returning from room to main block depended on a fire door left unlocked. If not open, a long walk round in the rain on the path or over a muddier short cut. Room was fine. Whilst breakfast was ok, a standard buffet, dinner the evening before for our group (we had been offered a limited menu) was poor. Chips were inedible, fish overcooked and greasy, pie was stodgy. Calamari were more likely battered squid rings. Generally the hotel felt tired. Not sure if always the case, but we were on a flight path from about 5am …..

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel du Vin. Christina at the front desk and Adam, one of the general managers, were particularly friendly and helpful in offering suggestions of places to go, reserving taxis, and helping with luggage. Although the property does not have a lift, the staff was happy to help carry luggage. I was in a suite on the third floor, up 37 stairs, so that was very helpful!
