About this property

Historic home on 1 acre with snowmobile trails in backyard & mountain views

  • Historic charm meets modern convenience at this cozy home equipped with a EV charger steps from the 200-year-old bridge and ski-in/out for nordic skiing. This fantastic, four-season destination offers beautiful views during the winter season, and you can enjoy multiple activities and attractions throughout the year. It's nine miles to the ski slopes of Sugarbush Resort, but with the VAST trail system directly out the back door, you can hop on your snowmobile and be on the trail almost instantly. When you return home, enjoy the freedom of this spacious setting. Boot and glove dryers will be waiting for you, and a ski and snowboard storage rack will be in the game room in the barn. Walk to the Mad River, swimming holes, and farm stands in the summer and enjoy the spectacular views of Camel's Hump, Mt. Mansfield, and Mt. Ellen year-round. Waitsfield's shops, restaurants, and amenities are roughly two miles away. Help yourselves to blueberry bushes, red currant bushes, apple trees, and a fresh vegetable garden. A grilling grate with grilling tools including S'mores sticks offer additional enjoyment. Free firewood is provided.

The home is on one bucolic acre and was built in 1801 for Waitsfield's first Minister, Reverend Salisbury. The original, hand-hewn beams run through the entirety of the home, and the present-day barn sits in the exact location of the original. There, you can enjoy a family gathering space with foosball and games - yard size Connect 4, darts, croquet, ping-pong, foosball, and poker table. Settle down and enjoy a book from our library in our cosy reading nook complete with portable heaters and a mini fridge under the stairs. Inside the 1,100-square-foot home, you'll find hardwood floors throughout - the floorboards upstairs are authentic - and lots of natural light. There are doors on every sleeping space and the dining room for complete privacy. There's a full kitchen with a breakfast bar, a separate coffee/tea bar complete with complementary amenities, sunny dining room that seats everyone comfortably with additional tables and seating, fully updated bathroom with ample storage and a vanity, and a cozy living area featuring plush couches, a smart TV, a gas stove for those chilly nights, and air-conditioning that keep the first floor cool and comfortable. All three bedrooms have a box fan beneath each bed if needed. There's whole-home high-speed internet with internet boosters which will give you full performance no matter where you are inside. There is plenty of bandwidth for streaming and video calls so you should be good for work/playInternet. The home includes a remote workspace with an electric sit-stand desk and a 34' ultrawide monitor. Spend the evening gathered around the firepit, enjoying the spectacular 180-degree sunset, and showering off at the outdoor shower underneath the stars while listening to nature sounds including a nearby babbling brook (season-dependent). You couldn't ask for a sweeter stay - all that's left to do is book it.
