Fantastic high-rise condo
The check in process was easy but takes a while, though the office staff and security were very kind and helpful. The condo was very clean and beautiful, and all utilities were provided. There is even a shared laundry area. Plus, quick access to gas, food, and shopping, and a short drive from some of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu. Definitely a great place to stay! 11/10

Great Base Camp in Makaha
Great base camp for adventures on Oahu. The only issue we had with the property is that we couldn't find any silverware. The condo was clean and has incredible views. The owner was great to work with. Would definitely stay here again!

The good things were a comfortable bed, nice pool and spectacular view. Flooring needs replacing desperately, it was filthy! Old and tired condo. Really bad area of the island, lots of homeless camps nearby. Dirty sponges for cleaning dishes. Could be a great condo with some improvements!

Property is just OK. Directions for entry and required deposit for a parking pass were out dated. Spectacular view would be much better if bedroom glass wall were cleaned. Throw rugs throughout, probably to protect off-white carpet, are all curled at the edges and some bunched in center making for tripping hazards. Long curving slow drive to town and coast. Traffic to/from Honolulu really bad.

I Loved all the Aloha...The place we stayed in was Awesome and Just Perfect for Us...We stopped and picked up groceries on our way...The bed was one of the most Comfortable Beds I have slept on...The room was so clean...The View was Amazing...The people on the property were so full of Aloha...The whole property was very well-kept and spotless. They cleaned the pool and the grill area every morning...I absolutely loved the Peacocks...The location worked perfectly for us since our Daughter and her Ohana were only 2 miles away...I look forward to booking here again...

We had a flat tire in our rental car making us park in the front. Unloading luggage was a challenge until a security guard offered to take the bags in a golf cart around the hillside building. Slept, next day bought cleaning supplies and cleaned the apartment. Otherwise pretty easy stay. Apartment did not look like picture. Furnishings very different. Challenge was traffic and food establishments beyond fast food near the towers. Peacocks galore on the property! Also lockbox doors pull down and toward you we had trouble in the dark. Beaches were lovely but the public camping invites homelessness which isn’t easy to forget as a visitor. Sunset from 10th floor was stunning. Gave me a good sense of what it might be like to live on Oahu’s far west side.away from the usual tourist locals.

Stay was nice! It was a good deal for having a kitchen. It’s a bit of a drive to the city (1hour on most days). Security was nice but parking was kind of a pain. it’s not necessarily a party scene if that is what you’re looking for choose another spot.

Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else
The condo is listed as “elite” but there is nothing elite about this place. The place is very dated, minimal renovations, annoying check in process, far drive to anything. We got an email to “remove shoes due to white carpet” the carpet is brown with a million stains which are covered up with indoor/outdoor rugs. Just don’t peel them back, you’ll be in for a grimy surprise. The shower curtain was moldy, we contacted host and she sent someone over to change shower curtain- that was nice but it didn’t change the rest of the grimy condo. Mold, rust everywhere. The vent was constantly blowing dust, dirt, hair and stuff which make the place dusty and yucky feeling. The check in process is also a pain. Check in is at 4pm, but the office closes at 5pm to get a parking permit so place your arrival accordingly. We then had to have $50 cash deposit for parking pass. Fine- not a big deal but we checked out before 8am to catch our flight and nobody is in the office before 8am making it a loss of money. So note hours are 8am-5pm. The dishes were also not clean and the dish rack that holds the “clean dishes” was dirty- I washed the rack. I dusted the vents, and slept on top of the sheets knowing the cleanliness is lacking. If we knew what we knew now we would not have booked it. The pictures are deceiving. Pay a little more and have a nice clean relaxing stay, and stay closer to anything else… this is at the end of a road- so the only way out of the west shore is to back track. No fun.

The condo was dirty and the pool and BBQ deck were closed. This was not communicated to us before or during our stay and the only reason we booked this condo- was for the pool. Our disappointment was communicated to the owners with zero resolution and they seemingly did not care.

Great location
Nice stay with a GREAT view. If you are wanting an experience that is disconnected from the main cities, this condo in a great little location. Close to the beach with lots of wild peacocks/wildlife. Ps - make sure you bring personal care products and larger beach towels.

Paradise in the valley😍
Our stay at this property in Makaha Valley was incredible😀 Vanessa was the perfect host right from the start, with great communications and allowing us an early checkin. The condo was spotless and had all the amenities we needed. The saltwater pool and property is kept super clean by the friendly and very helpful staff. The beautiful peacocks that live on property are entertaining and even seem to abide with the quiet time rules😀 With bus service here and close proximity to great beaches and restaurants, we would highly recommend this condo and will definitely return! Not What I Expected
This stay started out inconvenient and got worse from there. Upon arrival the check in process is confusing and inconvenient. (be prepaired to furnish $50.00 cash deposit for parking pass) Once checked in we found the place had not been cleaned from the previous renters and when I went to the office I was told I have to deal with the owner as they only do the check in and have nothing to do with maintenance. When I called the owner I was told there was a miscommunication with the cleaner and she could not have the place cleaned. She told us where the spare bedding was and we could make our own bed and pile the dirty towels and bedding up for retrieval later. She did refund our cleaning fee. This property is in a very run down condition with the dresser drawers will not close from being off track. The mirror that belongs on the dresser is sitting on the floor leaning against the wall and the carpet is filthy with many stains. The owner has tried to cover the dirty carpet with several area rugs that have the corners curled up causing my wife to trip several times. The TV is so confusing that we never could get it to work for local stations or cable. The ROKU did work to watch movies. It would help if the owner would leave a phamphlet to explain how the TV works, Where the laundry is and how to get a card for the washer/dryer, How to get to the pool. Overall I could not with clear concience recoment this property.

If you are looking for something outside of the big city this is your spot. Excellent experience. Very close to beautiful beach spots. Very well kept grounds, excellent and helpful staff, clean room with great views. Check in process was very smooth and would definitely stay here again. The room is equipped with everything you need. 100% recommend.

This place is within a condominium building that has security at the gate and requires permit to come in. The person renting the apartment is required to fill out the form and submit it to the security office in order for you to be able to get through the gate and park there. There are peacocks roaming the gardens and parking lot. Quiet area. The only amenity is the swimming pool. The location, even though it’s close to North Shore, is not accessible because one would need to drive towards the city Honolulu in order to take the freeway back up north and reach North Shore. The distance is only 12 - 20 miles but because there is no access it takes 1 hr to drive there. The beaches around the area of this apartment is populated by homeless camps. This apartment building is really an Oasis. Once you enter the grounds you feel like in a total different world. Kind people, kind staff. I recommend.

AVOID!!!
I have been using vrbo for 10+ years for every vacation I take and there are many. This is my first experience with a listing that was so grossly misrepresented and the owner lied to the vrbo customer service about it too. The location for starters is as other reviewers mentioned BAD not just ok this isn't great, no, it is that you need to drive an hour to feel comfortable going to the grocery store bad. The location I was willing to compromise on as long as the stay was fine, but this was also not the case. The images listed are extremely misrepresented, everything was moldy, rusted, stained, dirty or just flat out different than the pictures. The shower was absolutely repulsive with black mold on all the fixtures, the vents are all missing filters and are oozing with buildup, rug is stained and gross, fridge is covered in rust, plates and cups were stained and dirty, we found roaches everywhere, bed lines are nothing like pictures and look like they came from a 15 yr olds room with pilling and stains.... I know I am forgetting some too. When we addressed these issues with the owner they said it was clean and would not refund the money for the rest of the days when we left night 1. You will be much happier to stay literally anywhere else!

Awesome property. Only unfavorable thing is the fact that its in Wainaea. Alot of homeless in the area. If you rent this property definitely going to want to rent a car (cheaper if you dont rent from airport). Property is 1 hr 20 mins from north shore. 1 hr 30 mins from sealife park. 55 mins from airport. 1 hr 15 mins from waikiki.

What a view!
We liked the studio, but we loved the view. Honestly, the area is a tad sketchy, alot of unhoused, but the building is quite secluded. The pool is lovely, and the staff are wonderful.

Beautiful views. If you’re looking to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and more touristy areas, this place is great. The condo had everything we needed - but lacked hangers. Laundry was easy to access and on every floor. Staff at the complex was very friendly. Be aware: if you don’t like the sound of birds for whatever reason, this may not be your slice of heaven. There are many peacocks and obviously other birds in the area that love to chat. However, if you sleep like a rock, don’t worry. 10/10 recommend. Make sure you check out Ka’ena Point State Park.

My stay was great I knew regardless of where I was staying I would have to travel and needed a rental. Parking was great with permit and only a $50 refundable deposit. Waking up being able to sit on the balcony and have a cup of coffee or at night having a night cap was awesome! Didn't realize the microwave was in the closet but good to know for next time. Communication was good and Vanessa was very pleasant when we interacted. I wasn't sure what the negative reviews were about I didn't experice any of the things they spoke about but I would say the place could use either a ceiling fan or a swivel fan to help keep cool due to the windows and natural light I have having to run the electricity as much. But there were some lovely nights!

Avoid at all cost
The host has no interest in helping with check in process. Took 1.5 hours to check in at 10pm. The condo was filthy, the oven did not work, there was n microwave and the birds are incredibly noisy. It was a horrible experience and we actually left after 1 night.

This is completely not true. I sent the check in instructions on day prior to arrival. I also asked this guest multiple times for the full names of all the guests checking in.... no response. This gentleman was trying to cancel his reservation a few days before his arrival. He became outraged that he wouldn't receive a full refund. There is in fact a microwave and yes there are birds, hawaii is a tropical island. This condo is clean and well maintained. I promise you will have no problem checking in if you communicate with me by responding to my messages. Aloha 💖

Great place- poor location
The place was great. A bit of a hiccup accessing the property and waiting for security clearance but took only a short amount of time. The place was fairly clean and organized. No complaints. Location was our only concern. The property is in a valley off the main road which was quiet, clean and secluded. It was nice itself but just the closest main road was full of homeless people, tents, and many Individuals running down the streets high on drugs. We did not feel comfortable going to any of the near beaches. There were no nice restaurants close by again because of the local population. We had to do a lot of travelling to enjoy any nicer parts of the island. Locals were even suprised when we told them what part of the island we were staying on. Would highly recommend staying anywhere BUT the west coast! Overall if u don’t want to go out/tour a lot it would be a great place to stay.

The condo had a great view of the mountains and the ocean, but the kitchen was infested with roaches. There were roach egg shells in the kitchen cabinets and every time I came into the room in the evening, there were at least 3 roaches on the countertop waiting for me. The situation was pretty much the same for the condo in a different building (within the same estate) where my parents stayed. I won't be staying at Makaha Valley Towers in the future.

We loved the location. There was no soap dispenser, one roll of toilet paper, there was nicotine stains on bathroom doorframe and walls, there was cockroaches every night we came back from being out had to catch and kill them. The refrigerator was not clean inside and broken so they used duct tape to fix inside frig, coffee cups are stained inside, please read amenities because you need to buy everything from cooking oils, to shower soap really all toiletries and we had to pay 50.00 cash only to get parking permit refunded after your stay but bring cash ! Also we had no access to laundry room so if you are staying prepare to pack enough for every day you stay and go home with suitcase full of dirty clothes. Bed was very soft so e people may like but I woke with sore back each day lack of support. No beach towels , but beach chairs and a cooler.

Pretty Views Close to a Beach - Yet Overpriced
Very quiet, local neighborhood! The property is dated. We opened a screen door and recognized it was broken, which was challenging to put back together. The shower was small, and there were set-in stains around the door frame in the shower area. The trash can is located out in the open of the studio, and there is not a microwave in the unit (which I didn’t notice was missing in the photos). The shelves inside of the refrigerator we’re also a little broken at the time of our visit. But the views are pretty spectacular. The bed is elevated and VERY comfortable. We loved all of the window space. There is a beach that is one mile from the property and is beautiful, no need to go to Waikiki Beach! There was gear in the property that was available for us to take to the beach which was appreciated. I was a little frustrated about the check-in/parking process, as it was hard for us to get our $50 deposit back from the main office since we were leaving before the office opened, but we were able to make it work. It is a little overpriced for the property itself, but if you’re looking for a place to lay your head at night and wake up to stunning views with a little extra money in your pocket, this is the place to do it.

quiet, comfy but not "elite"
This property is a studio with a separate bathroom, not a one-bedroom. The bed is comfortable but not suited to someone with disability issues as you have to "climb up" to get in. The location is about 20 minutes to the nearest grocery store and "local" restaurants. My husband and I enjoyed the peace and solitude of this place, but not the cockroaches!! The host has been informed and hopefully will solve the problem so others may enjoy the quiet and the view.

Communication difficulties
The property and area is beautiful if you are interested in staying on the West side. It was tough to communicate with the property managers and they didn't fill out an authorization paperwork. We almost weren't able to check in / go into the property because of that, but luckily one of the managers was on the property and could fill it out for us. There was also only 1 roll of toilet paper for 3 individuals and the property manager asked my husband and me if we were local and then said we could purchase toilet paper down the street.

I am at the condo before each guest checks in and I make sure it it clean, toilet paper is stocked and that the authorization form is filled out. In your situation I couldn't fill out the form because you never responded to my message asking for the full names of all the guests checking in. This information is necessary in filling out the authorization form. I sincerely apologize for the miscommunication. Also the toilet paper is located in the drawers. Maybe you looking in the wrong place. You should have asked ❤️

A scenic hideaway on Oahu's west side
My girlfriend and I spent a week at this unit, nestled right in the middle of the Makaha Valley Towers. After some time in Waikiki, we appreciated taking a drive out to this VRBO which was secluded, quiet and offered an incredible view of Makaha beach. PRO'S: -Quiet location -Comfy big bed -Spacious balcony and amazing view -Reliable A/C -Plenty of parking right in front and the building staff were very nice CON'S: -During our stay, we had a bunch of bugs show up at night near the kitchen floor. I informed the property owner of this so hopefully it will be addressed for future renters. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this unit for anyone looking for some peace and quiet in a rare, overlooked part of Oahu.

A Nice Break from the City
My spouse and I travelled to Oahu for a week vacation. It was the first time that either of us had ever been to the islands. We started our trip in the Waikiki Beach area. It was nice but very touristy. For the second part of the trip, we stayed here at Makaha. It was a great condo tucked in a mountainous valley. The change of pace was welcome! There are some great beaches and hikes nearby.

The check in process was a nightmare. The owners never reached out to us and the day of check in, we sent her an email. She then responded with an email and then made a phone call which was missed as I was on the beach. This resulted in an hour waiting process as the condo was not advised of our visit. When we called her and asked her to fax the condo office our names, she stated that she had tried to e mail and call with no response. This should have been taken care of weeks ago. We booked this condo and paid for it months ago. In order to visit the pool, we were required to sign up for an Hour at a time. There is also a required 50.00 parking pass that I was not aware of prior to the check in process. The view was beautiful but the check in process was not. I cannot say that We would reserve this location again.

Great location on the west side of the island!
This was a great location! The owner and property management were so easy to work with. We wanted to stay out of Honolulu and this was a great place to really disconnect. You will need to rent a car to fully enjoy the island. But that could be said about anywhere in Oahu. Just be ready for 1 hour drives to get to North Shore and Waikiki. Honestly the traffic wasn't bad and it was easy to get anywhere while avoiding the Honolulu traffic.
