When we arrived around 6pm, the receptionist told us that our reservation was not confirmed by the hotel despite our confirmation number received by Hotels.com one month ago. They said that our confirmation number is not valid without their confirmation number. In reality, they just sold our room for a higher price. They just offered us a free buffet dinner and told us there is another hotel very far from Petra gate where we can get a room. As we were dead tired, we accepted this hotel which was far from the gate. This is really not honest what this hotel is doing by selling rooms which were already booked by early customers. If you want to make sure to sleep near the Petra gate, don't book this hotel as you may end up sleeping very far from Petra gate. The room was adequate, albeit a bit spartan. Included amenities were soap, shampoo and towels. WiFi is NOT free and you will be charged per device. The food in the restaurant is okay, but nothing special. Upon request, however, the chef will make an affort to accommodate special dishes. The most notable aspect of the Petra Moon is its proximity to the entry to Petra. It is about a block's walk to the front gate. This is significant after a long, hot day hiking around the ruins. Another notable aspect of the hotel is the Front Desk Staff and the Wait Staff. All were very accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. They all seemed to want to make a favorable impression on their guests. The location is also excellent for tourists looking to visit Petra. Even more, the staff here are exceptional. My wife and I were in a car accident and I called the hotel to ask for help (everyone was speaking Arabic and we only speak English). The front desk immediately called the tourism police and had an English speaking police officer sent to help us. First of all the location, it's a 2 minute walk from petra visitor centre(entrance) and the taxi stand. One cannot ask for anything better. Secondly, the hotel facilities and clean well maintained, clean toilets, fresh sheets and towels and decent buffet. Our room package includes breakfast and wifi and the signal was pretty good. Kommen ins Hotel und es wurde uns freundlich mitgeteilt, dass Expedia das Hotel überbucht hat. Nach mehrmaligen Nachfragen hat sich herausgestellt, dass das Hotel selbst überbucht hat und uns einfach in einem anderen Hotel untergebracht hat. Daher keine Angaben zu diesem Hotel. Compared to other hotels in Jordan the rooms are above average. The breakfast has a lot on display but in terms of taste the selection is limited, especially the hot selection. There is however a chef cooking up fresh eggs to a very satisfactory result so we had lots of eggs to prepair for all the walking. Recently rebuilt, so everything is new. Very good, very generous breakfast buffet. Bathroom was quite spacious. VERY comfortable beds. Staff was very accomodating. Fabulous price for the quality. The hotel is very modern, fully updated and in a great location very close to the entrance to Petra. Breakfast was included in the room rate but it was not great. Dinner was also inexpensive but not great. The hotel is excellent, its restaurant is not. Highly recommended to visitors to Petra. When we checked in, we were told about the dinner buffet in the room to our right. We expected to be able to charge our meal to our room, but after we finished eating, we were told "cash only" and had to scramble to find enough Jordanian dinars to pay the dinner bill. Also, when we tossed our dirty towels on the floor, which we thought was universal for "please give us clean towels," the housekeeper simply picked the dirty towels off the floor and hung them up. I enjoyed my one night stay at Petra Moon Hotel, though it was not easy, overall, for a single woman to travel in the middle east countries, alas, including Jordan. Service at the hotel including at the reception, driver who took me to the airport, breakfast room, were friendly. It is so close (5 mins walk) to the Petra Visitor centre that being in Petra right at 7 am was no problem. And I was able to to see some amazing parts of Petra all by myself. The only thing I wish for the Petra Moon hotel is to have a few English channels available in the TV. ##### Muna
