Lovely attention to detail, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, sunny garden and excellent hosts. Ideal location for popping to shops, restaurants and pub. Beach is a walk downhill, so uphill on the way back, but well worth the effort! Very safe garden for dogs and kids, and well stocked garden shed with bikes, boards etc. Close to the road, but there is no noise at night, slept soundly! Can highly recommend a holiday here. ##### Fiona W. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Karen M. 28 May 2022 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Superb Lovely comfortable cottage with all the amenities you require. Great enclosed garden and superbly located to visit other areas. Short drive to Port Isaac and Rock with ferry over to Padstow which we did a few times. The Pityme Inn (a short walk) is great with lovely food and great staff. Tasting Rooms in Padstow also worth a visit. All in all a great last minute fund for us and we will definitely back for longer! Thank you x ##### Karen M. Great to have use of bikes (if you wish), body boards and wet suits which save space in the car. Lovely area, lots of lovely places to walk, do watersports and sight-see. Loved The Mariners for a cheeky drink on a hot day and the boat trip over to Padstow for fish and chips is a must. Thank you MoorToSea ##### Jess P. Bedrooms great size and nice showers. Good location to walk from, or short drive to most places. We loved our holiday stay. The beds were comfy but if your on the tall side, they were framed so you can't put your feet over the end. It was nice to have off road parking, but if you have anything wider than a fiesta you might find it tight. Nice to be close to the beach, but it is a hardy stroll there and back. Overall a great place to stay, would be happy to book again. ##### Verified traveller Stayed 4 nights in Oct 2021 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Sue D. 25 Mar 2022 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Clean, warm and comfortable We had a great stay at Hollyhocks. Cottage is clean warm and comfortable with all mod cons and everything you could need for a self catering holiday. We were very lucky with the weather, managing to lunch in the garden a few times. Hollyhocks is located about 20-30 minutes walk from the beach, on the main Rock Road, but with plenty of footpaths to take across the golf course, its a pleasant walk. The only thing that would improve the stay is the provision of towels for guests. Wendy is a great host and we would definitely recommend. ##### Sue D. Stayed 5 nights in Mar 2022 ### 8/10 Good #### Jacqueline H. 10 Sept 2022 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, listing accuracy Disliked: Location #### Our stay near Rock Overall an enjoyable week spent at this house. The living room is very spacious and the garden was pleasant to sit in (apart from during the week when the builders were operating diggers and breakers). Found the kitchen very small and the fridge freezer was very undersized for a family with small kids. Irritating being in a cupboard so you had to open two doors to get in the fridge. As it's right on the main road into Rock it isn't a peaceful spot with the traffic going past but good location for day trips to Rock and Daymer Bay which we love . ##### Jacqueline H. Stayed 7 nights in Aug 2022 ### 10/10 Excellent #### laura c. 3 Jun 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Fantastic location for exploring Cornwall We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in rock. The location of the cottage was fantastic for exploring an that Cornwall has to offer and the kids enjoyed getting the ferry over to Padstow, which we did on several occasions. Plenty of options for dining without needing to use the car, supermarket deliveries available which we did, however, the village shops are well stocked so if we came again we would just use those. My only small comment would be that the listing had said there was a dryer so we only bought 4 days worth of clothes to save car space and took washing tablets with us but when it came to having the first load of washing to do we found it was just a washer and not a washer dryer. With the weather not being great it took us two days to get the washing dry inside which wasn't ideal. If we'd known this facility wasn't available we would have packed accordingly. If you stay, don't leave trying the bakery to the last day like we did, it's fantastic! ##### laura c. Stayed 7 nights in May 2024 This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Nigel P. 28 Nov 2014 #### Rock This is a well equipped and comfortable house on the main road into Rock. But don't let its position put you off as traffic noise really isn't an issue. Inside, the house has everything you might need: 3 decent sized bedrooms, one on-suite bathroom and one separate bathroom, a well fitted kitchen, a good dining area and a spacious sitting room. At the back of the house, there's a modest garden and seating area. Not something we took advantage of, our stay being at the end of October. It looked good though, viewed from a sitting room heated by a wood burning stove. One potential issue may be parking. Luckily, we took one car (there was a point when we almost took three) as the house only really has off-road parking for one vehicle and I'm not sure where else you can park. The centre of Rock is a sturdy walk away but there are some very good food shops much closer, including a decent bakery, a good butcher and a well stocked general store. There's also an intriguing fish'n'chip shop - I say fish'n'chips but in amongst the usual fare, offerings include battered scallops (the bivalve not the tuber) and calamari fritti. Only in Rock. Also in Rock, Nathan Outlaw at the St. Enodoc Hotel. Mortgage whatever's necessary and go. It really is that good. Overall the four of us (my wife, our two grown up daughters and I) had a very pleasant week and the house not only offered us everything we needed but was also an ideal base from which to explore parts of Cornwall we hadn't been to since the girls were much younger. Don't know what else to say other than we'll be back. Which is, I guess, recommendation enough. ##### Nigel P. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Nigel P. 23 Apr 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location #### Cornwall Treat The house is on a quite busy road, but once you’re inside it’s barely noticeable. There’s plenty of off road parking space which is a bonus. The house is nicely decorated in a calm seaside theme. It was warm when we arrived. The kitchen is well equipped. I’d definitely consider booking this again. ##### Nigel P.
