Stay in one of Waco's historic treasures featured in Historic Homes of Waco! You can walk to the Silos and have your pick of Pickleball, basketball, volleyball, or have a campfire! This 6 bed, 3.5 bath house can easily sleep 15 people. We are a mile from Foster Pavilion, and a short drive to Baylor University. If you are shopper ask for a my list of favorite stores off the beaten path! The Space The house was built by Dr George Conner, a prominent African-American physician, and his wife Jeffie, the superintendent of black schools in the county. 3 bedrooms are upstairs, including the master with a King bed and ensuite, the bunk room with two twin beds in a loft (recommended for kiddos) and an additional full bed, and another guest room has a full bed. The upstairs also has an additional sunroom with a pull-out bed (full). Downstairs has two bed rooms. The first has a queen bed and an ensuite. The second has two twin beds. The beds are all comfortable and the rooms were spacious enough to play games in. We are here for our sister in law’s bucket list to see Chip and Joanna Gaines, and experience Magnolia Market. We had a problem with the plumbing and the owner promptly provided a plumber, and solved the problem. We also experienced fluctuating Spring temperatures and we were able to adjust the HVAC system with the owner remotely. She is extremely courteous and easy to work with. Waco has exploded since I was a freshman in 1993! The house has plenty of space and rooms for all, antique charm and is close to everything. We loved our long weekend in Waco seeing family. The outdoor space was huge and provided a great place for us to soak up the sun, play basketball, volleyball, tag. The gigantic refrigerator was another bonus and the hosts were responsive to a couple of issues/requests. Negative was that property was dirty throughout & it was short on supplies compared to other VRBOs we have stayed at. ##### Jena S. The home accommodated us well. Thank you. Notes: microwave downstairs didn’t work. Trash accumulated well beyond cans provided. We elected to leave the additional bags in the back room of the house so that dogs and cats wouldn’t rip it apart. ##### David G. All of the others I've stayed at I thought did a very good job of accurately portraying the property in the listing. The pictures here look waaay better than the actual house. It is an old house and is being poorly maintained. The rental instructions discuss alarm instructions but there is no alarm or we never found one. Only 1 key for a house that sleeps 12\. Lots of roaches & bugs. A/c thermostat was locked or couldn't be controlled. Broken glass around the fire pit outside and other debis made it unsafe for kids and our dog. Upstairs MBR shower door didn't close and water temp couldn't be controlled - either too hot or too cold and very low pressure. Railing on stairs is very unstable - challenging for our grandparents. Only 2 towels provide in the bathroom for a 3 nights stay. One towel was wet when we checked in which is completely unacceptable and shows the place wasn't cleaned well. Vent on floor in kitchen is open and exposed the floor below. Other doors wouldn't close.Chandeliers had parts disconnected and dangling. Porch chairs were old and weathered. Ice maker not working. Cheap and small microwave for this size house and price. For 1,000/night I expect a lot better. I certainly felt duped based on the listing vs what we got. ##### Preston C.
