Gem of the Douro
"What a gem! The hotel is actually a small villa with three bedrooms, three and a half baths and a full kitchen. The ad said, "Vineyard views." That's the understatement ofvthe century. The views from every window an the balcony were breathtaking! The property owner/manager is very friendly and helpful. ..."

Great people and village!
"We met wonderful people in Barcos. From Jose’s extended family at the winery to a wonderful woman in the village that gave us two bottles of excellent homemade wine. Thanks to Teresa for the wine! This is a delightful country village to escape to. We went to Sabroso too. So peaceful. We are so happy ..."

Very nice place
"We stayed a week and found the house very modern in terms of amenities and very rustic in terms of architecture. We had never booked a longer stay but we really enjoy the Trancoso area and this proved to be a very handy location. It was great to have the quiet seclusion in the evenings after touring ..."
"My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary and it was a dream. I live in Portugal, and this is the best service I've had in the entire country.
The hotel itself is small - there are only three rooms - which is fantastic, as you don't feel like just another guest. If anything, when you go downstairs for breakfast, it feels like you are home. The staff are universally friendly and all speak many languages, including English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French. Silvia in particular was incredible.
I called ahead, and they organized flowers and champagne for the room when we arrived. When the room we were given didn't have the view I expected from the photos here (two rooms have the view of the valley, and one to the east), they upgraded us without hesitation to their best room, since it was free. The whole hotel is extremely well designed - homey but modern. They have contacts seemingly at every attraction, vineyard, and restaurant, and were able to call for us to schedule things - even when the public phone numbers weren't working.
They have straight five star reviews for a reason. You won't be disappointed."

"This property was fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the intimate Quinta. Getting to the tucked back stay is well worth it for the views, the pool, and the fabulous staff. Cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay. Highly recommend to others!"

"Such an incredible place to stay in Duoro Valley! The staff is very accommodating and always available to help. The pool next to the vineyard was a highlight. Dinner overlooking the valley is also available if you want - and everything was delicious. I really loved the aesthetic and design of the hotel - so much attention to detail. My only feedback is that the bed linens & pillows could be upgraded - they weren’t bad by any means but didn’t feel especially luxurious. Highly recommended place to stay!"
"Great hotel and pool, though it was either too hot in the day or too cold at night to use when I was there. Good breakfast, too. Only downside was the bathroom in our room. For some reason, the bathroom had a half frosted window pane overlooking the bed. From the bed area, you could look into the shower and see the toilet too. Not exactly romantic. Also if someone used the bathroom in the middle of the night that means the light from the bathroom would shine right on you in bed. Why did they do that?! Also their very casual eatery at the bottom of the hill had awesome wine."
