The best area to stay in Vila is the Old Town, known locally as Barri Gòtic, for its historic character and central location. This neighbourhood is the heart of Vila, characterised by its narrow, winding streets, historic buildings, and Roman walls. It's incredibly walkable, with many key attractions like the Vila Cathedral and the Plaça de la Vila within easy reach. The area is packed with independent shops, traditional tavernas, and cozy cafes, particularly around Carrer Major. For couples, the Old Town provides a romantic and convenient base. You'll find boutique hotels tucked away on quiet side streets, offering a secluded feel while still being moments from lively squares and excellent dining options. Evenings here are particularly pleasant, with the historic architecture beautifully lit.Families often find the area around the Port of Vila a practical choice. While still very central, it offers easier access to the wider boulevards and is close to the marina, which provides a more open feel. You'll find many apartments here, offering more space and flexibility, and it's a short walk to the beaches.

The best time to visit Vila is during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.During these shoulder seasons, you'll find comfortable temperatures superb for exploring the town and its surroundings without the intense heat and larger visitor numbers of the peak summer months. This allows for a more relaxed experience, whether you're strolling through the historic centre or enjoying the coastal paths. For those who enjoy a lively option and don't mind warmer weather, July and August offer the full Mediterranean summer experience, with plenty of sunshine and events. However, be prepared for more people and higher prices for accommodation and activities.
