Vigie Beach is one of the closest beaches to St. Lucia’s capital of Castries and makes for the perfect destination for a quick afternoon dip or laze in the sun. Enjoy the undeveloped, uncrowded beach, which is a firm favourite with locals looking for a welcome sea breeze in the height of the summer. Swim in the clear blue sea, find shade under the trees or simply relax with a good book and soak up the rays. Amenities at the beach are basic and that is exactly what makes it so charming. Find a couple of small, simple snack shacks at the entrance to the beach and a restaurant right on the beach. Dine in the restaurant, bring a picnic or head into Castries for a late lunch or early dinner in one of the numerous dining establishments there. While swimming and relaxing on the sand are the top activities at Vigie Beach, it is also a delightful place to go for a walk. Amble barefoot along the sand of the sheltered bay fringed by palm trees. For a longer walk, head for Vigie Lighthouse at the end of Beacon Road, which sits on the peninsula overlooking the harbour. The beach runs along Vigie Airport, yet despite this, it is one of the most popular beaches among locals and the small amount of air traffic doesn’t deter from its appeal. A lack of hotels and resorts along this strip has resulted in a wild and undeveloped appearance, with just a stretch of golden sand, lapped by perfectly clear Caribbean waters. Go shopping in the morning and then head to the beach after lunch for a cooling swim. Vigie Beach is located a short distance from downtown Castries. Get there by taxi in under 5 minutes. (675 reviews) I would give 5 stars to the room - the amazing views and heated plunge pool . Stunning and totally unique. I must note that even though we had a butler with the room - it did not live up to its billing. The staff were very kind and friendly , HOWEVER the quality, level of service and lack of communication between staff did not match the surroundings and cost ( during our stay in St Lucia we stayed in other hotels where service was exceptional and seamless ) . In addition, the food was average, which again was rather disappointing . Though we had an excellent dinner at the Rabot across the road. The hotel’s own trail was short but v good and brought closer fantastic views of the Petit Pitons. Finally , if it’s your thing - The CV, weights and Pilates rooms were very well equipped and extremely good. Overall , I would say 4 stars - we had a very enjoyable and memorable stay but there are a few areas they really need to work on and they should not rely on the view alone to do all the hard work ! (1,010 reviews) Food was excellent at Coconut Bay Beach Resort! So many choices and all of them were good. Pools were clean and many to choose from and there was always something for entertainment in the evening. Some seaweed in front of the resort but down to the left of the main part of resort at Paradise Beach there was minimal seaweed. Very close to the airport and close to many excursions. Great place to stay!
