Maemuna Sea View Apartment

Summary:

One of the most spectacular sea views in the Cinque Terre, in a flat where legend and opera meet. Maemuna's windows look towards the Grotta Maemuna, a hidden cove tied to an old Ligurian legend: a mermaid's irresistible song was said to lure sailors towards those waters. The house has its own story too: the previous owner, an opera lover, would be rowed right into the cave with a gramophone, to hear classical music amplified by the rock walls. Via Guidoni 34, 35 sqm, for 3 guests.



The Space:

Living room with a fixed double bed (for 2) and a separate single bedroom (for 1). A minimal kitchen and bathroom with washing machine. Newly installed air conditioning: one powerful unit in the living room cools the whole flat; the single bedroom has a ceiling fan. Free Wi-Fi.



Guest Access:

A historic building in Vernazza's old heart, with all the charm and the limits of a genuine Ligurian fisherman's cottage. The kitchen is very small and basic, and the bathroom is boat-cabin compact, with genuinely limited space. The right choice for atmosphere, view and authentic experience, not for those wanting spacious rooms.



The Neighborhood:

In Vernazza's old heart. The Grotta Maemuna can only be reached by sea: our private boat tours on the traditional gozzi Grecale and Macaia include this magical stop, retracing the journey from a century ago.



Getting Around:

The train is recommended. Public car park above the village for drivers (about 1,200 metres from the pedestrian area), shuttle and a short walk to our office (about 5 minutes). Advance booking recommended.



Other Things to Note:

Small and medium-sized dogs welcome for a supplement.

We leave a few breakfast basics in the kitchen for your first morning: croissants, biscuits, jam, tea, coffee, portioned powdered milk and sugar. Bed and bath linen included with shower gel, conditioner, body wash and hand soap. Professional cleaning throughout. Those who know the Cinque Terre like no one else, in tourism since 1991.

Our concierge office in Vernazza is open 9:30am-7:00pm from 1 March to 31 October; outside this period the office is closed, with presence available on request. We're always happy to welcome guests staying in any of the other villages too, whether for a quick hello or for advice on local experiences and activities.



Interaction with Guests:

Assisted check-in 3:00pm–7:00pm, then self check-in 7:00pm–10:00pm with instructions sent in advance by email (phone assistance carries a supplement). No check-in possible after 10:00pm: evening arrivals strongly discouraged, trains are infrequent and the roads are demanding.
