We offer 2 other units in this characterful Venetian casetta (little house): Lo Squero1 (on the Ground Floor) and Lo Squero 3 (on the 2nd Floor) \*\* A location featured prominently in David Lean’s iconic film ‘Summertime’ starring Katherine Hepburn, and home to St. George’s Anglican Church in Venice (as well as a manned gondola stand for exploring the canals!) \*\*\* Note that Lo Squero 2 is furnished with 2 double sofa beds (each with 2 single mattresses) giving added flexibility to the sleeping arrangements OUR COMMENT A Venetian casetta that’s sure to make you smile, just tucked away on Dorsoduro’s ‘Museum Mile’… A short amble to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the iconic Church of the Salute, the Accademia Galleries and Bridge (and the VOV office!), the Palazzo Cini Gallery, plus the Punta Della Dogana Center of Contemporary Art, and close to a variety of fine eating places and bars including Ai Gondolieri and Ristorante Riviera for fine dining, and Corner Pub, Osteria Al Squero and Cantinone Gia Schiavi for cicheti and spritz. An easy waterside stroll to 2 Conad supermarkets – one at the western end of the Zattere and a smaller one closer to home at Zattere Spirito Santo – and to 4 vaporetto (water bus) stops – Zattere Spirito Santo, Zattere, Salute and Accademia – for travel around the city (note that St. Mark’s Square can be reached by vaporetto from Salute in under 5 minutes on Line 1!) Also close to the ‘traghetto’ at Calle Lanza/Calle del Traghetto S. Gregorio which, during operating hours, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to the district of San Marco, and within easy reach of the Alilaguna boat stop connecting the Zattere to Venice's Marco Polo Airport. For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival. Beds will be arranged as either doubles or twins as shown in the photos. Location, quietness, very convenient for amenities The only criticism was one of the bedside lights did not work on arrival and throughout our stay. This was known by VOV before our arrival as they were waiting for an electrician with required parts to repair. Our major issue was the communication process and check in. We had difficulties with coordinating with the staff person who was to let us into the apartment, a major issue with the apartment not being ready for us when we arrived, and then conflicting and clearly uncoordinated information among other staff about how we would be recompensed for these problems (that continued through the check-out process). In contrast, the property managers responded quickly and thoroughly to an infrastructure issue in the apartment. So the experience was mixed. Dies war unser 9\. Aufenthalt in Venedig und die komplizierteste Abwicklung vor Ort. Die Matratze passte nicht zur Basis (10 cm zu schmal auf beiden Seiten). Der Topper war auf beiden Seiten 10 cm zu breit. Die Küchenstühle waren so hoch dass man den Küchentisch nicht benutzen konnte. Die Leselampe am Bett funktionierte nicht.
