El Cortijo del Huerto forms part of a completely renovated, typical Andalusian farmyard. Hidden between plants and trees, it is situated at only 150 m from the magnificent beach of El Palmar. It has a lounge, an open-plan kitchen with dining area, a bathroom and one bedroom with double bed downstairs, and a bed gallery with two single beds upstairs. It is very tastefully decorated, in a modern and rustic local style, and fully equipped with microwave, washing machine, refrigerator, stereo, etc. It has a beautiful fenced garden with a small swimming pool for exclusive use of the guests. From the garden, you have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. We have Dogs,Cats,Chickens... Next to this property, we also offer two separated houses, Casa de Maria and Casa de Getrudis. They are located on the same premises and share the garden. (El Cortijo del Huerto has its own private garden and pool.) All three houses can be booked separately or together and are an ideal combination for large families that wish to travel together and be independent at the same time. Casa de Maria: 606523 Casa de Getrudis: 10330067 Conil de la Frontera: Conil is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Coast of Light. On it's 7 mile coast, different types of beaches can be found : open and extensive, small coves surrounded by cliffs. Some of the characteristics of rural southern Spain can be perceived through rich agricultural small holdings. The architecture is alive reflecting fishing, trade, and the religious side of the town, thanks to it's preservation the town has been declared a historical artistic monument. Conil is rich in traditions, it produces craft work, especially pottery. The gastronomy is abundant from the fertile fishing and farming grounds. Vejer de la Frontera: This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful towns, not only in Andalusia, but in Spain. It has been declared an historical artistic monument, and was awarded the'Premio Nacional de Embellecimiento'. Thanks to it's privileged location, on a hill 190 meters above sea level, it offers an amazing view of the surrounding countryside. The twisty narrow streets are a walk through the rich and varied history of this town. Particularly prominent is the influence of the Arabs who held the town for 593 years. Cape Trafalgar and Zahora: From the famous lighthouse of Cape Trafalgar direction north-east you arrive at the beautiful white sand beach of Zahora. Because of the lagoons formed at low tide, makes this a popular beach for families with small children. Juan was an ideal host, available to give advice when asked but otherwise invisible. Our daily guests included two of the dogs, a host of cats and many chickens. Fresh eggs daily was an added bonus. The bedrooms had limited storage space, none at all in the upstairs section but apart from that the place was well stocked from a kitchen point of view and generally very comfortable. The lovely cottage was very private, exceptionally clean, comfortably furnished, has a stove, good sized fridge and washing machine, and all necessary kitchen utensils. Wifi throughout was a great convenience and although there is a TV and DVD/CD player, we spent most of our time outside in one of several shaded, delightful places to sit in the garden, taking a dip in the swimming pool, or wading into the ocean a few hundred yards from the house. Eggs fresh from Antonio's hens, fruit and vegetables available twice a week from the produce delivery man, fantastic seafood and local specialties at nearby restaurants (especially Francisco's) overlooking the ocean, and time to enjoy a leisurely meal - such a treat! The beaches are spectacular unspoiled stretches of golden sand and the property is within easy driving distance of interesting towns and historical sights, as well as Gibraltar and access to Morocco. The night sky was very clear with little pollution and few lights. Antonio is a considerate, responsive host and the atmosphere of peaceful rural life with friendly, well-mannered dogs and cats, and the comforting sounds of birds and poultry is so welcoming and relaxing. We were there at the height of allergy season (early May) and my husband did problems with his allergies because everything on and around the property was blooming, but we would definitely go back at another time of year and stay longer than a week. Das Haus liegt nah am Strand (ca. 3-5min zu Fuß) so dass man schnell die Strecke zurückgelegt hat und ist weit genug vom Strand entfernt, um abends seine Ruhe genießen zu können. Das Grundstück ist sehr gepflegt. Unser Highlight ist die vom Wein überrankte Terrasse. In der Siesta war es dort immer schattig und es sah fantastisch aus. Katzen, Hunde, Hühner sind die täglichen Begleiter, das hat uns sehr gefallen. Es ist eine sehr ge-chillte Atmosphäre und wir haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Cada día había algo nuevo que descubrir: las gallinas, los perros, los gatos, el entorno, el silencio... hacen que tus días sean especiales. La casa es preciosa, llena de detalles bonitos y decorada con mucho gusto... La limpieza, que para nosotros es muy importante, es inmejorable. El jardín está igualmente cuidado con mucho mimo, como cada rinconcito. Juan Antonio y Mila son encantadores, amables y dispuestos siempre a ayudarte en lo que sea. Nos ha encantado encontrar un lugar con tanto encanto al lado de la playa, en el que nos hemos sentido como en casa. Muchísimas gracias por todo, esperamos volver el año que viene... You could therefore say enough said! It suits us perfectly as we enjoy self catering and shopping at the local butcher and fish shop and going to the splendid market in Barbate for vegetables, where you can also sneak in some indulgent churros with your morning coffee. The cortijo is charming and very comfortable for 2 (+2). The location is perfect for walking to the low rise coastal resort of El Palmar, with it's fabulous beach stretching from Cape Trafalgar to Conil de la Frontera, every inch of which we have walked on one trip or another. The property is well maintained and you will never run out of eggs, which are a splendid feature of Juan Antonio's relaxed but perfectly attentive customer service. We have recommended the cortijo to people and indeed some friends of ours, who have their own property in Spain, were much taken with it when they came to stay one night, including an especially magical sunset at a nearby beach bar. We are especially fond of Gurugu Chiringuito on the beach, Restaurante El Alferez - the closest restaurant to the cortijo and Venta El Toro at Santa Lucia, just beneath Vejer de la Frontera. ##### Tom C. Die Einrichtung des Hauses liebe- und geschmackvoll. Juan-Antonio ist sehr hilfsbereit und seine diskreten, unaufdringliche Art ist sehr angenehm. Er ist sofort da, wenn man ihn braucht. Der Garten ist gross und gepflegt, der Swimmingpool nicht gross, aber gerade richtig. Die Tiere im und ums Haus waren für uns eine schöne Nebenerscheinung, wir haben uns über das morgendliche Hallo der Gänse und Hähne gefreut. Und die Hauskatze Juana ist uns sehr ans Herz gewachsen. Wir hatten sehr schöne Tage hier. Einzig die beiden Matratzen in den Einzelbetten unter dem Dach sind nicht für Erwachsene absolut nicht geeignet, erst recht nicht, wenn man einen etwas heiklen Rücken hat. ##### Ursula F. Der Garten und Pool ein Traum. Der Strand ist nahe und hat gute Restaurants. Juan ist ein guter und aufmerksamer Gastgeber. La casa cuenta con todas las comodidades y si surge alguna necesidad, el propietario, una persona muy amable y cercana, siempre esta atento y disponible para ayudar. Das Haus ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet.Allerdings wäre ein Schrank oder eine Kommode im Kinderzimmer noch ganz gut. Aber es ging auch so.Antonio ist ein sehr diskreter Vermieter, der alles sehr künstlerisch angelegt hat! Man entdeckt immer wieder Kleinode! Das Wetter war angenehm warm,nur leider hatten wir viel Levante. Und da ist es sehr windig auf der Terasse. Wir haben uns dann in dem wunderschönen nahegelegenen Ort Vejer de la frontiera ein windgeschütztes Plätzchen zum Essen gesucht. Dort gibt es mehrere tolle Lokale und Tapasbars! Rundherum eine tolle Gegend , tolles Meer und wahrscheinlich die schönste Unterkunft!,!! ##### Nadja R. An enclosed space, well cared for and surrounded by trees full of bird song. The house is full of character with artistic touches all around. We were four adults, which in retrospect was not ideal as one of the bedrooms is open plan with the communal area and gave little privacy, and also has no storage space for clothes. El Palmar is not very lively during that period, but exactly to our liking. The beach is 5 minutes by feet and is a very long strip stretching for kilometers to both sides. Some surfboard rentals are already open (main activity here on nice shorebreak) and some restaurants, as well. Not the best quality for money, though. Better cook at home. There is a small supermarket in El Palmar (veggies not best quality) and a large one in Conil. All kitchen gear is present (except an oven and teapot). Eating outside is a pleasure in the spacious garden. There is even a BBQ to grill the sardines from the local fishery. The swimming pool is 4 x 5 m and non heated: a refreshing dive in April, but probably welcome in hot summer months. It is located in the back of the terrain of the very sympathetic Señor Cruzado, with parking space for your car. Dogs, cats and chicken add to the rural flavor, much to the liking of our kids. The attic with a low roof is a good place for 2 kids with its 2 separate beds, but is not a separate room. So if you want to test the stereo in the evening (CD with USB access available), the kids will be witness. We did not watch television, but usually for us vacation is a good time for watching a DVD (however, not available). So we read a lot instead or just enjoyed the garden outside with some local wines. In short, one of the best places we ever stayed in because of privacy, tranquility, easy access to the beach and facilities. ##### Albert V.
