Västerås has a long history of innovation and great visions. This is a modern city with a small-town feel, great nightlife and exciting attractions!

Västerås lies on the northern shore of Lake Mälaren, 16 km from Stockholm—and the pulse and influence of the big city is certainly noticeable. There is a bubbling nightlife, strong entrepreneurial spirit and exciting events and attractions all year round. Your trip to Västerås will show you that the city is full of life!

There is a huge selection of pubs and bars, so a weekend trip to Västerås is perfect for revellers. Why not take the lift up to the 24th floor of Skrapan to First Hotel Plaza? It houses the Sky Bar cocktail bar, which boasts the city’s most beautiful views and, according to many, the tastiest drinks. A real favourite for visitors and inhabitants of Västerås alike, who are looking for the highlight of the night!

Do you feel like continuing on into the night? Head to the Blue Moon Bar, which features three large dance floors, or go to the Art Deco-furnished Publik, which takes its inspiration from the roaring 20s. Västerås is the sixth largest city in Sweden and really delivers when it comes to festive entertainment.

Västerås has a lot to discover. There are not many who leave here without visiting Anundshög, the largest ancient long barrow, dating from around 5-700 AD. Neither should you miss the elegant Ängsö slott (Ängsö Castle), dating from the 1400s and according to legend, inhabited by three ghosts, so enter at your own risk! The recently launched “action pool” Kokpunkten is also very popular—a water park situated in an old steam power plant over 8 floors. The experience is enhanced using cool digital effects, fun for big and small alike!

Västerås offers a range of accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes, but if you want to experience something unique, you should book accommodation on a floating dock near the port of Västerås. Here you can sunbathe and swim out to sea and inside there is a hob and gas heating. But the greatest experience is the bedroom downstairs where you sleep 3 metres below sea level with panoramic windows in all directions! An experience you will never forget.

So, is it time to see something new and discover this unique and innovative city? The wide range of activities on offer in Västerås often surprises many visitors—it’s difficult to be bored here!
