Get to know the adorable huskies and Alaskan malamutes that will take you on a sled ride through the white valley.

The Valley of Wolves is a snowy region of mountains, lakes and dog sleds, evoking comparisons to the Alaskan outback. Argentine Gato Curuchet owns a cabin with gorgeous dogs that will whisk you over and through lagoons, rivers, forests and glaciers on sleds. Enjoy this ideal family activity, as the kids will fall in love with the cute dogs, while adults will appreciate the rustic ambiance of the isolated cabin life.

Embark on a dogsled ride through the trees and mountains of this picturesque valley. Capture photos of the unspoiled nature surrounding you as you zoom along the snow. The site offers night rides under the visible stars and moonlight.

Admire the range of breeds in the collection of dogs, which are well treated and live in an ideal natural habitat.

Arrive back at the warm cabin for hot chocolate. Chat with the owner about his incredible experiences, as he prepares a lamb barbecue. Drink Argentine beer and sit by a fire in this cosy cottage. Purchase souvenirs from the site’s gift shop.

Apart from the main attraction of the dogsled rides, enjoy other winter activities. Trek alone or with family or friends to Lake Fagnano or go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

Owner Gato Curuchet dreamed of moving away to Alaska since he was a child, but his path changed when he missed a boat departing Ushuaia and stayed here for good. Upon realising how similar the valley is to his Alaskan dream, he decided to set up his dog-sledding complex.

The valley is open year-round, though days are far longer in summer. Expect to pay a reasonable price for food and a sled ride.

Get to the Valley of Wolves via a bus that departs regularly from the Tourism Office in the centre of Ushuaia. The site is in and around the Carbajal Valley and should take a little more than 30 minutes to reach by bus or car. The mountainous region stands between Lake Fagnano and the Beagle Channel in the Tierra del Fuego region in southern Argentina.
