"We were very disappointed with our stay and unfortunately will not be returning due to the service we received. While I was taking a short 15-minute break in the sauna, I left my toddler with my teenage daughter by the pool. My daughter was using her phone only to play a video for the toddler to keep her calm and distracted while waiting for me. A staff member told her not to use the phone, so she understood that photos were not allowed and put the phone away in the bag, facing only towards the toddler so she could continue watching the video. Despite this, she was approached again and told off, even though other adults around the swimming pool were openly using their phones without any issue. My daughter felt unfairly targeted and embarrassed. The staff were unsupportive, inconsistent, and lacked basic customer care. On top of this, the cleanliness standards were poor. The evening before, our toddler dropped fries under the table during dinner in the restaurant. The next morning at breakfast we were seated at the same table, and the fries from the previous night were still there. That says a lot about the level of cleaning and attention to hygiene."

"Perfect location and a comfortable room with an excellent shower. Breakfast was lovely with a good variety of options, although it was a little unusual that it was served in the reception area. What let the hotel down, however, were the check-in and check-out arrangements. A 4pm check-in feels unnecessarily late, although we were at least able to leave our bags beforehand. More disappointing was that after checking out at 11am, we were told we couldn’t store our luggage because they had “run out of space.” Unfortunately, this completely disrupted our final day in Bath so decided to cut our trip short and catch an earlier train home."

"The Royal Hotel has a couple of things going for it — it’s directly across the street from the train station AND it has a lift! A couple of things going against it — the WiFi reminded me of dial-up, glacially slow and iffy. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a way for a guest to set the room temp. Unless you count the tabletop plug-in fan? Staff were generally helpful, Tim at the front desk and the women working the breakfast room, too. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION"

"Great location and ideally placed for all the main attractions. The room was small, compact and quiet and had everything I needed. The hotel was great value for the money"
