Established in 1972, the university has seen significant growth in recent years and currently has over 14,500 students, with a particular focus on the arts. The university hosts a number of prestigious art collections, which includes the *Irish National Self Portrait Collection*, the *O’Malley Sculpture Collection* and the *Armitage Collection*. Further testament to its support in the field of the arts, the University of Limerick is also home to the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and the Irish Chamber Orchestra. Perhaps you’re visiting with a view to studying here, or are simply coming by to enjoy one of the university’s many exciting events. Either way, you will find plenty of activities to grab your attention. In addition, the University of Limerick is also a prime spot for sports. Home to Ireland’s largest indoor sports complex, the university has an excellent athletics track and the country’s only Olympic standard swimming pool.
