19th Century Mansion/Farm House

Built in 1817 this is one of the oldest estates in Maryland. It has old slave quarters on the property and an 8 hole outhouse along with a summer kitchen that was used for cooking. (both being renovated) It has 7 fireplaces and a great room with bar. A large music room with a circa 1850 box piano. My wife and i were married here last year with over 100 guests. We wish the walls could talk!!

Our stay at the Mansion
Family here for event. The mansion was the perfect mix of space, informality and comfort. I had people from 5 different families and we were able to visit and still have private time.

Fantastic experience in a beautiful location
The house was absolutely beautiful––spacious, inviting, and full of lots of little thoughtful extras and amenities. Mike was an exceptional host as well! He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, kept in touch with us to be sure we were taken care of during the week, and made the check-in and check-out process as easy and accommodating as possible. This is truly a wonderful place to stay, especially if you appreciate older homes and the history & craftsmanship that accompany them. Thank you to Mike for helping my family have an unforgettable holiday at this property. We would choose to stay here all over again with zero hesitation, and I can only hope that we'll be able to return one day.

Historic Property
Amazing 200+ year old property in the historic Gettysburg area. Mike (the property owner) gave a complete tour of the property and provided fresh eggs from the chickens living (in a coop) on the property. Great time for a group of old friends who were shooting sporting clays in the area.

Family Reunion
My cousins and siblings gathered from 5 different states for a recent weekend reunion. The house allowed us plenty of space to sleep comfortably and explore. The rural location suited us perfectly - lots of parking, acres to walk, and fresh eggs each morning! There were plenty of towels and blankets for all, and the full kitchen was well-stocked with small appliances, utensils, and everything else we needed for our group of 10 adults over 3 days. The owner was on site each day: unobtrusive, but friendly and available. He made us feel very welcome from the date of the reservation on. None of us wanted to leave! We highly recommend this home experience!!!

Amazing Place and Hist
This was the best rental experience I have ever had. Mike was so kind and generous. He even got us fresh eggs each morning! He was the perfect host. This property is amazing. The house is beautiful. It was so clean and welcoming. The beds couldn’t be more comfortable. We were 6 guys hanging out for a gaming weekend and the house had room to spare. We can’t say enough positive things. We are definitely coming back!

Big Family Wedding
We reserved the Vrbo as the groom’s family, for our son’s wedding in Westminster. We have a huge family and needed ALOT of space. We didn’t all fit at this house so we were spread out in the area, but this place was out hub of activity. I made all the flower arrangements for the reception there at the house with help from friends and family; and we did a lot of prep for the food for the rehearsal dinner also. After the rehearsal dinner at the church, friends and family gathered at the house for some time together to sing and enjoy each others company. We had the groomsmen over for brunch on the wedding day, and had plenty of room to get everyone in our house ready and out the door on time. And The groomsmen had some of their photos taken at the house- it’s an absolutely perfect setting. EVERYONE who came by to work on something or visit LOVED the house. The beds were very comfortable, it was super clean, and pleasantly cool, even for an antique home in midsummer. Mike was a great host, very personable, prompt with communication, and available as needed. The house is 6 min from a nearby grocery market, and about 15-20 from Westminster. THIS Vrbo made this family wedding filled with very happy memories for the whole family! Had it not been for this location

What a wonderful place
I stayed at this property with my son and five friends for a couple of days. We were touring the Gettysburg battlefield. I debated whether it would be better for us to stay at a hotel in Gettysburg or at this house near Tawneytown. Everyone was in strenuous agreement I made the right choice. What a great place! We got in near 10:00 PM, tired from having toured Monacacy and Antietam earlier in the day. But we got a burst of energy when we arrived. The house is just so interesting (and so comfortable)! My biggest concern with a multi bedroom house like this is how good the mattresses are. That can really make or break a stay. I’m happy to report everyone slept great! We even made the house part of our trip. Mike offered to give us a tour the morning we left—an offer we gratefully accepted. I don’t want to set that expectation. He obviously won’t have time to do that for everyone, but it did make our trip all the more enjoyable. Speaking of Mike, what a great host! Very responsive and genuinely interested in his guests. What a great memory all the way around.
