Gorgeous riverside cottage near Coniston Water. Off-road parking. EV Charger

Sawmill Cottage is a gorgeous, riverside, 18th century Lake District cottage with 4 double, en-suite bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, lots of oak beams, 2 real log fires and even a separate games room. Full central heating and hot water are included in the price.

The cottage featured on the BBC 'Hairy Bikers go North' series.

The cottage has been very stylishly and tastefully furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The attention to detail throughout the cottage is a wonderful marriage of new and old.

The cottage is located in the tiny hamlet of Low Nibthwaite, just 1 mile from the southern shores of Coniston Water in the South Lakes and is 1 of 3 cottages that are situated by the River Crake at the end of a private lane.

The stunning, riverside location is blissfully peaceful and relaxing.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

The main sitting room is very spacious, light and airy with French doors and floor to ceiling windows looking & opening out onto the patio area with views to the river.

The sitting room has a wooden floor and ample room for 8 people with 3 large, soft leather and suede sofas arranged around the lovely log fire and large screen Smart TV.

Next door is the dining room and kitchen. The brand-new kitchen has been fitted out with top of the range German appliances including the latest technology 5 ring electric hob, 2 electric ovens, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, built-in microwave, internet radio with Spotify and all the pots, pans and crockery for you to cater in style for your self-catering holiday.

The ‘breakfast bar’ separates the kitchen from the dining room and the dining table seats 8 people. This lovely large room also find another real fire and another sofa too.

There are 2 sets of stairs that lead to the 4 bedrooms that are spread out across 2 floors.

All the bedrooms are furnished with brand new Sealy Posturepedic beds and mattresses and there’s new carpets throughout.

The main bedroom has a king-sized bed and regency style, ‘wrap around’ headboard facing towards stunning views of the River Crake. The French doors lead out onto a large balcony overlooking the garden and river. This is a wonderful place to sit, watch and listen to the relaxing and mesmerising sound of the river. This west facing balcony is THE place to sit for amazing sunsets over the river and trees.

There’s 2 further king-sized, en-suite bedrooms and 1 super-king-sized bedroom where the bed can be split into 2 single beds (please email us prior to arrival if this is your requirement).

One of the en-suite bathrooms is much larger than the other bathrooms and has an original ‘Jacob Delafon’, French cast iron roll top bath, refurbished of course!

On the 3rd floor you’ll find the ‘games room’, nicely tucked away from the rest of the house. Currently there’s a Wii games console, with a box full of games too, a sofa and TV.

Sawmill Cottage is everything a luxury Lake District cottage should be, with plenty of space and facilities for up to 8 people.

GARDEN

The cottage has a totally enclosed patio garden and decking area with an ‘all weather’ table and chairs for 8 people. A brick built charcoal BBQ is also provided.

A further large garden runs down the lovely River Crake that flows out of Coniston Water. Here you’ll find a bench for to sit and relax by this beautiful river.

The cottage also has private fishing rights on the stretch of the River Crake in front of the cottage. The most common fish in the river are sea trout and salmon, depending on the time of year.

PETS

Well behaved dogs are welcome for a charge of £20 for 1 dog or £30 for 2 dogs. Sorry, but we do not allow more than 2 dogs.

You must inform us before you book if you wish to bring a dog.

Non pet owners can rest assured that we spend this extra money on additional cleaning so that non pet owners wouldn’t know a dog has stayed in Sawmill Cottage.

This is a great area for dogs with plenty of walks from the doorstep. Sawmill Cottage is surrounded by mountains, fells, fields, footpaths, woods and riverside walks where your dog can have a great holiday too.

EV CHARGING

Sawmill Cottage has an electric vehicle EV charger in the private parking area.

The charger is available exclusively for use of guests staying at Sawmill Cottage and has a maximum output of 7.4KW.

The EV charger has a ‘type 2 tethered cable’. You simply plug it in your car, flick a switch in the cottage and recharge your EV

Easter family break

Lovely property just south of Coniston Water. Property amazing and ideal for our group of two families as the property’s upstairs rooms split 2 and 2 from separate staircases. Location is remote, but there is a Booth’s in Ulverston to stock up at (and other supermarkets). We had a dog with us and we made good use of the garden … the river at the rear is idyllic and she enjoyed paddling in it!

Beautiful cottage and location

Beautiful cottage for celebrating my 70th birthday with my family.. I would just comment on one thing and that is to check for any possible damage as soon as you arrive or you may be charged for something you didn't do.

Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location by the stream

As a whole, the cottage was beautiful. The rooms are especially beautiful and modern, each with their own bathroom. The bedroom on the top floor is ideal for those who have a child staying with them. On arrival, the cottage was exceptionally clean and tidy, beds all well made and presentable and overall all well kept. We would recommend this to others and definitely keen to come again. The only downside is that for the neighbouring cottage/s, they have to pass through the garden which caused the dog to bark more than we would’ve liked to! That’s the only criticism. Otherwise, all positive feedback!

Perfect Getaway

For our family, all adults, this was a perfect setting and cottage in all aspects. If my children were toddlers (or very young), I would be very cautious of the proximity of the river. That said there is a secure gate on the garden side and unless left open, you should have no concerns.

Great place to stay

Great place and we enjoyed staying there, we set up badminton on the lawn by the river and mucked a out in the river with the teenage kids when the level fell enough. Lots of trips to coniston to swim and boat. The hill behind the house for walks and an easy pedal over to griezdale forest for more adventure

Fantastic Holiday

We booked for eight people to stay, two who were celebrating 70th Birthdays. From the start of our booking Simon the owner was accessible by telephone and helped with all my enquires from supermarket shopping availability to logs for the fire. We were able to sit outside every day as blessed with glorious weather. Taking walks from the House to driving for a walk up The Old Man of Coniston. Everything in the House made our stay amazing. So pleased to have found such a luxurious House in the Lake District.

Property was easy to find, good communications from owner. Central to visiting lake. Ample room for 3 couples and a teenager without getting on top of each other. Good en-suite bathrooms, lovely river side gardens deck area. Easy to access all Lakes.

Fantastic stay at the Sawmill Cottage 5*

Enjoyed a three night stay here in March 2019 with friends and family. A beautifully appointed and furbished cottage which really feels like a home away from home. Peaceful, homely and a really well designed space. I would recommend this place to any one for a great retreat in the Lakes and definitely hope to go back soon.
