Curtis is a great host. Been there many times over the years with both friends and family. The design is truly special- it has a 'real' cabin feel with all the modern amenities tucked in there. The outdoor gas fire pit is nothing short of brilliant.
Our stay at this massive cabin was really enjoyable. Lots of space for everyone to have a comfy room/bed and the ping pong table was excellent. Staying in Truckee/Donner in the summer is all about the lake and access only takes about 5 minutes down the road to the state park.
We had eight adults and three little ones, and the house worked great-spacious and room for everyone. Big table where we all could eat together and a great fire pit for s'mores each night. Would highly recommend and would go back to.
This place is set up great for a large group. Our kids had a great time sledding, snow ball fights etc. Overall just a fun experience, weve stayed here a number of times over the years and will continue to come back in the future.
This is the second time we have stayed at this home. While the photos on VRBO website are a bit dark, the home is not. There are beautiful views from every window as well as a wide deck to step out onto to enjoy the morning freshness. The kitchen is well stocked. The hosts/owners are very responsive. We hope to go back again.
Overall this place is great! Very close to Donner Lake.. the firepit was great. The pool table and ping pong was what everyone needed. Very roomy.. we had 3 families and everyone had a room.
This house was beautiful! It was clean and very comfortable for our long weekend of skiing and sledding. Everything we needed was on hand. The owners appear to love their house and share it generously.
We were a group of 3 families, all with children, staying for a getaway in the snow. And we got that! This house is a great set up for groups with separate rooms for kids and parents, a tree house, a pool table, and plenty of space for all. Everything was better than we expected inside and outside. The host was responsive and incredibly gracious when we thought we may get snowed in on our check out day. Overall, we all agreed we would stay there again!
I had a milestone birthday in December, not an ideal time for a celebration because of Christmas and unpredictable weather, and we are not winter outdoor enthusiasts. I asked my children and grandchildren to join my husband and I to spend a weekend at Donner Lake (one of our favorite places). So happy we found this great house. We had such a wonderful weekend making memories at this spacious, clean, and comfortable home.
We love the area and the location was what we were looking for, which is not always easy to find. The guests and especially kids enjoyed the property. A couple items in the home need some attention, as well as a deep clean. But the house served its purpose.
This was our second year at this property. It is so comfortable, with everything needed. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms, two of which have an extra hall and privacy door. Downstairs has 2 bedrooms which are good for those who do not like stairs. There are stairs from parking area but you can also temporarily park on the street and carry all groceries in with no stairs. Fire pit and patio lovely spot for after dinner sitting.
We were a multigenerational family group ranging in age from 5-77, and the house was ideal for us. Great location close to Donner Lake, which has the best beach and playgrounds! We drove around the area and visited Lake Tahoe (25-30 min drive), Donner Pass (15 min, spectacular), local state park, Truckee etc. Everything was easy and uncrowded and stunning. The house is clean, well equipped and we were very comfortable and enjoyed the fabulous views and environment. Curtis was an excellent host too. We would love to stay there again!
Very large house accommodated 6 easily with separate bedrooms and baths. Seniors should know that long stairways are a challenge. Great amenities and well equipped but needs a little TLC. On a hillside above lake in beautiful setting..
My 2 sons and their families joined for a very brief 2 night getaway.
The house had plenty of space for 8 of us and there could have been easily 4 more. Having 3 bathrooms was a huge plus for us and the pool/ping pong table was great fun for the kids.
The kitchen was well stocked and the fire pit was a big plus.
It is an older property and has some maintenance issues that need to be addressed.
The property manager was responsive and our getaway was very pleasant !!!

Donner lake was a midpoint for family members coming from California, Paris, and Utah. We had another house rented for the younger portions of our family, which was just down Judah. We could visit each other, play, hot tub, and chat.
We found everything we needed. We even saw a bear above the house scratching around. Perfect place, love the fireplace, pool table, and three places to gather and catch up.
Thank you so much for your help getting in.
A very nice house with lots of space for our whole family. Kitchen is stocked with a lot of large pots and pans, plenty of cups, plates & utensils and a very large dining table. The adults and kids had a lot of fun at the house - ping pong, darts, games and lots of snow for sledding. It was so convenient for the kids to walk out the door and go sledding! It is very close to Donner Lake and we tried some fishing but had no luck. It's also close to Boreal and we made use of the $25 lift ticket day! We'd love to come back when the snow melts and use the fire pit and hopefully have better luck fishing!
Overall an Awesome stay, a few minor things relating to cleanliness (stuff/trash under beds in room with twin beds - my dog found it🤪); trouble upon arrival getting in (expeditiously remedied by host); discovered 3 unlocked windows, 2 of which could Not lock (mentioned to host & he said he would look into it to remedy issue)….overall we had an Excellent Stay & hope to book this property again. Curtis was a great host that addressed our entry issue right away & was attentive to any messages I sent. I would advise other winter renters to be sure to have your hubs locked in to 4wheel Low to get up the snowy/icy hill, but if you are used to driving in winter weather you’ll be good!!! The Fireplace is Gorgeous & kept the area downstairs nice and warm while we played cards & built puzzles Thank You Curtis for “Hosting” our family - oh yea and the extra pillow in the 2nd upstairs king bed bedroom is Bill’s he accidentally left it…Sorry (& we can come and get it on a clear roads day)
Our big family of 3 generations had a great 8 days at this lovely home. Very roomy and nicely laid out. Upstairs 2 bedrooms and bath had extra hall door to make them more quiet. Master bath and bedroom very large and quiet. Kitchen well stocked and appointed. Kids loved the playhouse and the sand pit where they built fairy villages. The gas fire pit on patio was lovely spot for us all to sit and visit in evening. Dining room table so big we all had a seat.
For many years we stayed near Tahoe City but now we are Donner fans. Except for weekend it was not crowded. We had one truck with all the supplies pay $10 to enter Donner State Park and the rest of us parked for free at end of South Shore and walked 5 minutes into China Cove, nice beach. Also house is close enough for visiting Tahoe where we went to Meeks Bay, only a little over half hour drive. Some went to Alpine Meadows for horseback riding and others enjoyed golf at Northstar and Ponderosa. We also enjoyed the free sandless public piers on north side of Donner. And tunnel hike at Donner summit was fabulous!
The house was very clean, comfortable, and lots of room for our large family. Owner was very responsive to any questions we had. Would definitely stay here again!
