It is therefore an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Moselle region. A cycle route runs directly along the river. As the bike-boat pick-up leaves almost in front of the door, you can go there or back by boat, how nice is that. The excursion possibilities are practically endless, but Trier is definitely worth a visit. This is Germany's oldest city with a beautiful historic centre. Ideal for shopping and admiring old buildings and the Porta Negra. If you stay a bit longer, consider visiting Idar-Oberstein, known for its gemstone-cutting workshops.
