Choose two or more items and save on your trip:
Inspect the iconic Adam and Eve pottery depictions and learn about the city’s artisanal traditions in this intriguing cultural center.

The Centro de Exposición y Venta Artesanal is a modern and spacious exhibition hall that showcases the works of the city’s craftspeople. Here, you will find impressive pottery pieces spread across nearly 100 individual spaces. Attend one of the many cultural events that take place here to learn about the local art scene.

Enter through the gates beneath the brown colonnade that surrounds the complex’s courtyard. A thick, white obelisk guards the entrance, while fixed huts flank the green surface of the external space at the front of the structure. Purchase some of the pottery works you’ll find inside to take home as souvenirs.

Choose from your favourites and learn about the traditions that each piece represents. Speak to the artists and vendors about their artistic intentions and cultural backgrounds. The city of Metepec is known for its artisanal history and pottery items and has many family workshops.

See examples of the Tree of Life work, which represents the tree from the Bible story of Adam and Eve. It has become an emblematic piece in this city.

Explore the exhibition hall for temporary displays. The complex has an open area for artistic and cultural activities. Have a meal and contemplate the various works of art as you relax in the site’s food area. Stroll down the quaint cobbled lanes surrounding the complex and admire the many colourful façades of the small houses in the area.

The centre opens daily from morning until late in the evening and is free to enter. It stands on the location of a former handicrafts market, continuing the artisanal tradition.

The Centro de Exposición y Venta Artesanal is in the central part of Metepec. Get around the historic centre on foot. You can also drive here and leave your car in one of the spaces surrounding the complex. Visit nearby sights, such as the Kiosco mermaid statue, the Municipal Palace and the Church of San Juan Bautista.
