Nice hostel set in a beautiful little space amongst native trees tucked away reasonably close to the heart of New Plymouth.

No mountain information, racist, dirty
If you want to go to mountain this place is not for you. Bad information about tours. Place is Noisy can t sleep at night. Owners i found that is bully calling me young men even we look the same ages... bigist is owners are so racist. Give white good infor about the places and tours but not to asians . Naver go back.

For the price and as an emergency stop, it was great! There are signs at the property saying "check-in at 5pm" which doesn't reflect what's on this listing (says you can check in until 9pm). We were lucky that it was a busy night and another group was also checking in late, so no troubles. They will also ask for your ID and address.

Amazing service! The lady staffing the reception was super nice. Great to be given extra blankets and a heater in winter since it was freezing out, and the price for the room was decent.

I hate to say, wouldnt stay again. Usually check in is 2pm. This place a hard 5pm. We arrived just after 4pm and no wouldn't check us in. Pics showed a TV. No TV. Had adjoining rooms we couldn't lock from our side so had to trust staff. Gave us a sheet and pillow cases and made us feel like we should of had them, yet we told all provided No internet. Do not recommend for families. We have stayed many places and only exoect what they say. Pay for what ylu expect but at 185 expected more.

This accommodation was below expectations. Everything was clean, but the place was run down and eery. I wouldn't have felt safe staying there alone. No smoke alarms either. Won't be going back. Smelled of cigarette smoke. It's more like a very basic holiday park than a backpackers. The short check-in timeframe at 5pm was inconvenient, but I knew about that before booking. It's surrounded by bush, which is nice, and has a pretty stream behind, but it had an isolated feeling with few guests, and an uneasy vibe. Was cheap though, and conveniently located. Person at reception was friendly.

Thank you for your review. Nice to know that you found it clean and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately with the slowdown in visitor numbers you may have found the large property which as you mention is set in very large gardens in the centre of town quite overwhelming with so much space as the other guests sometimes come to enjoy the freedom of enjoying their own peace of paradise and may not mingle as much as you would liked. I also aknowldge that the pricing was in line with expectations. best wishes Gary

A little hard to find but staff on phone were amazing. Very late check in and due to it being cold room was upgraded to a warmer room as we had kids

Every curtain in the unit is black with mildew. Dish brush in kitchen, all bristles were BLACK. Kitchen floor had crusty old food from previous guests. Picture on web site showed a TV, but was not one in the unit.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The property surroundings are nice and also handy to town. The room was clean and tidy but very basic. Bring your own towels and tea bags. Great for a quick stopover or camping. Would stay again and recommend for a quick visit.

Stopped there for a night and we had a lovely time. Only regret is that my bed was broken and I noticed it too late to change. Bathrooms were clean, good shower pressure, lovely environment, easy parking. It was great! Plus, if you're planning a trip to Egmont National Park, you can get plenty of good advises from your host there! PS: they also have sites for campervans and tents

Nice dorm, just had a little problem with the water pression in the shower (but other persons were taking their shower too so maybe it explains the problem of pression). Everything that could be needed was there ( toilets, kitchen, showers, linen...). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Comfortable and very affordable. Lovely staff and very convenient. Heaps of room for the kids to play and all amenities are well equipped. We will definitely be back with the rest of our tribe.

Beautiful setting very close to town. We were in a family cabin and it was the cheapest accommodation in New Plymouth for a family of six by far. Basic accommodation but suited us perfectly for just one night

Unorganized totally. Our room smelt. Had no opening window. No smoke alarm worst experkence ive ever had. Had to wait for about an hour before we could get out key cos the owner wasn't ready and was still vacuming rooms.

Great Value Economy accommodation
Stayed 2 nights during Taranaki Garden Festival. Didnt need more than somewhere to sleep, as off out to see the gardens on the tour. Have used backpacker hostels before and this is up with any them.

Suited our needs
Lovely staff, met some lovely people from overseas. Very nice dining room. We were out and about a lot so didn't spend lots of time here but suited our needs. Facilities were clean and were cleaned on a regular basis while we were there. Was very quiet and lovely atmosphere.
