Outdoor onsen in cold dark night creates a beautiful atmosphere. The dinner and then breakfast were excellent and unforgettable. We had our private dining room and there were lots of elaborate dishes. The Japanese rooms were amazing and we had a great vegetarian kaiseki dinner and really enjoyed the onsens. Would defintely recommend staying at this hotel. Only issue is transport to the location is a bit difficult if you don't have a car. We were aware of this and messaged ahead to ask about the availability of the hotel shuttle bus to the bus stop for our departure. Unfortunately, when we arrived the receptionist was unaware they had a shuttle bus and was very unwilling to check the information we were given or even help us sort out alternative travel. The hot springs were beautiful and relaxing. Both the dinner and breakfast meals were plentiful, served in a nice semi-private setting, and offered items that were unique. My only complaint is that there was an unpleasant smell in the area. I believe may have been sulphur from the hot springs. The osen is probably the best feature of the hotel. Breakfast was disappointing compare to other Japanese styled hotel we been at. We booked the room with breakfast and was given a western style breakfast, we wanted the Japanese breakfast but couldn't communicate due to language barrier. One other downside was the wifi, never worked for us during our stay. The wifi was not password protected but none of our mobile devices were able to join.
