The hotel is a traditional-style Ryokan with nice facilities: a wood-lined indoor onsen, outdoor onsen, and sauna which was a big bonus. We really enjoyed the more sulfurous quality to the onsen. There isn't much around the inn or in the area, it's rural and very beautiful. The Inn's meal were excellent and their onsens were also very nice and pleasant. It was great coming back from a day of hiking in the park to take a warm soak and have an excellent meal. BUT as soon as you step inside you know you are somewhere special! It is traditional Japanese in every sense of the word. A fantastic Ryokan experience and they catered for us vegetarians too ( a rare breed in Japan ). The breakfast was stunning. We didn't have dinner at the hotel but in a restaurant a short taxi ride away. The main plus of this hotel is the truly amazing onsen... indoor and outdoor. You can even book a private onsen for 2 people for about 1000 yen for 30mins.
