"I read so many reviews when planning our first trip to Costa Rica and so I hope this review helps someone! We were a couple and two teenage girls and we stayed two nights. We felt extremely safe. We met the owner, Suzzana, multiple times and she is not only kind, but an excellent listener. All the staff seem hand picked for their exceptionalism. I wish I could name each one here, as they often greeted me by name each day. Our room and bathroom were pristine and the grounds… oh the grounds! So beautiful with winding pathways and a lot of places around to sit and relax. Hammocks and chairs out by the beach, which was Zero waves, very calm and warm. We did the tour they offer and we left and returned from the hotel beach- how convienant is that? We did the excursion which was a boat ride, lunch, Isla tortuga, snorkel and also seeing the bioluminescence, which may be a highlight experience of my life. The lunch was so good that we asked them to make the same food and had it to go the next day when we needed to drive back to San Jose. Comfortable beds, hot shower water, beautiful and peaceful. The pool was also a highlight for us. We were in there each day. I’m trying to think if I have anything I didn’t like and I would say, if you have many food allergies they do try but this might not be the best spot for you. Also I did end up using my own shampoo/conditioner since they have only an all-in-one s/c/body wash. The a/c worked great. I sincerely hope we get to return! Thank you!"

"If you are visiting for your first time to Costa Rica this is not the place. When we checked in at midnight we walked to our room, that was farthest from front desk, and the keys did not work. Had to walk back to get keys that worked then the door latch on the inside caught so we had to Jimmy it open. The rooms were not well maintained and the doors did not seal so bugs would crawl in the room and we would have to kill at least 5 bugs a day. The shower only had hot water so could not adjust the water temperature. The staff was not helpful at all and no one seemed to really know what was going on. No instructions were given to us that we had to make a reservation to use the restaurants for dinner. We went to have dinner the first night and only 1/3 of the tables were full. They would not seat us simply bc we did not have a reservation. There were only 2 of us. We paid for the premium to be able to eat at the restaurants. We tried to make reservations the next day and got declined on the app. Went to the front desk and had to wait then found out to make reservations we had to talk to someone else the front desk could not help. They had plenty of open times so there was no reason for it to have been denied when we tried on the app we were told to use. It seems more like a local vacation spot not for visitors from other countries. You get what you pay for here. Worth spending the extra money for a better experience. The views were great."

"The lodge may not look luxurious but the staff make sure you feel like it is. Insuring all your needs are met. The staff were amazing, first class! All meals were a beautiful presentation and they got to know you and then catered to your tastes. He mad my husband a fresh picante sauce. We loved the location. We were looking for some conveniences but preferred a non touristy place. It was perfect for the type of trip we wanted. The sounds of the rainforest surrounds the lodge. We thought it was beautiful! "

"My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Trapp Family Lodge. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner at the Lodge, and both were delicious, with excellent service. The gardens are well maintained, with plenty of flowering planets to attract birds. The room was relatively standard - very clean, plenty of light, and comfortable bed. We would happily stay there again if we had the opportunity. "
