This is by far the best hotel in Taichung. The room and hotel were spotless with beautiful modern decor. The service provided by the staff were also exceptional. I spoke to both hotel managers (Kay and Angel) during our stay and they went out of their way to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Location was also very central so we were able to get everywhere we needed with public transportation or walking. My only complaint is the breakfast buffet at Il Lemone. I felt that for a 5 star hotel the food could be better tasting with larger selection. I felt some of the bread selection was sometimes stale tasting and the fresh fruit offering was minimal. Although the fresh juice selection was exceptional (fresh carrot, kiwi, pineapple, celery juice). Room is well organized , good bath tub , excellent towels but you better bringing your own toothbrush, shaving kits … etc . It’s understandable for environmental concern but charging you extra $200 NTD is ridiculous , most other less expensive hotels are free if you ask . Another strange management issue is no express checking out line . Everybody waiting on a long line to check out during noon time . For what ? Wasting employees and customer’s time . It’s one of the most expensive hotel in Taichung why let those small issues ruin customer’s feeling . At Ritz Carlton , Peninsula and many lesser hotels you can just throw room key at designated area or box and walk out giving customers a flowing and flawless feeling . They already get your credit card , so for what . Food is excellent with good quality and choice but sitting is bit cramped .
