"Bel hôtel et séjour agréable, mais grosse déception à l’arrivée. Notre réservation était prévue pour une chambre de 4 personnes, mais l’hôtel nous a imposé de prendre une deuxième chambre, facturée au même tarif que la première. Aucun geste commercial n’a été proposé et nous avons donc payé le double du prix initialement réservé. Dommage, car l’hôtel méritait autrement un bon avis."

"We had a wonderful stay here in the Easter holidays - just my son and I - whilst travelling through southern Morocco. The staff are warm and friendly, the food was very good, the gardens are beautiful and full of bird song, the pool is a great size and was heated to a very comfortable temperature for relaxing in. Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tafraouten?
The best area to stay in Tafraouten is within the main town itself, offering convenient access to its unique cultural and natural attractions.

The town centre is quite compact, with the main square, Place Al Hamam, serving as a focal point. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and small hotels clustered around this area and along the main streets leading off it, such as Avenue Mohammed V. This layout makes it easy to explore on foot, with shops, cafes, and local eateries all within a short stroll.

For couples looking for a relaxed and authentic experience, staying in a guesthouse near the town centre is ideal. You'll be well-placed to visit the local souk, explore the distinctive pink granite architecture, and enjoy the evening atmosphere of the town. It also provides easy access for scenic drives to nearby attractions like the Painted Rocks or the Ammeln Valley.

Solo travellers will also find the town centre a good base. The central location means you can easily connect with local guides for hiking or cycling tours into the surrounding Anti-Atlas Mountains.
When is the best time to go to Tafraouten?
The best time to visit Tafraouten is during the spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November) when the weather is mild and pleasant.

During these months, you'll experience comfortable daytime temperatures, typically ranging from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, exploring the painted rocks, or simply strolling through the town. The evenings are cooler, so a light jacket or jumper is advisable. The clear skies and gentle breezes create great conditions for photography and enjoying the stunning landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains.

For those who enjoy hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the region, spring is particularly appealing as the valleys can be dotted with almond blossoms, adding an extra layer of beauty to the already impressive scenery. The cooler temperatures are also great for longer treks into the mountains.

Families travelling with children will also find these seasons best. The moderate temperatures allow for comfortable exploration without the intensity of summer heat, ensuring a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
