Arty convention center hotel with comfy beds
I wasn't impressed when I checked in. I was annoyed to have to pay $16 for self-parking ($20 for valet), I had to wait a good 15 minutes at the front desk to check in, and the whole lobby smells like cheap cologne, intentionally. When I tried to order room service for 6:00 am the next morning, which the menu claims is an option, they told me the first trays are delivered between 6:15 and 6:30. I had to leave by 6:30, so no breakfast for me. One of my lightbulbs was burned out, and two of the seven pieces of exercise equipment (both treadmills) in the fitness center were out of order. They saw my initial negative review and apologized, but didn't so much as change the lightbulb.
Luckily the hotel grew on me over the two nights I was there. The beds are very comfortable and the food is excellent. The bar is a lovely place to hang out, with lots of comfortable seating and a very cool fireplace. Room service on my second morning was a treat, with excellent food and coffee. I am staying there again next week, so I clearly didn't hate it.
